Job Title : Mechanical Engineer
Reports To : Manager of Maintenance
Job Overview :
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for evaluating and enhancing manufacturing processes, designing and installing specialized equipment, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
This role plays a key part in improving equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and optimizing manufacturing efficiency.
Key Responsibilities :
Equipment Ownership : Take full responsibility for manufacturing machines, working closely with maintenance technicians to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Downtime Analysis : Evaluate equipment downtime and implement solutions to improve reliability and minimize maintenance costs.
Process Innovation : Apply technical knowledge to design and develop equipment, fixtures, procedures, tooling, and automation solutions to streamline production.
Process Improvement : Identify opportunities for improvement in process capabilities and integrate new processes and equipment to boost manufacturing throughput and efficiency.
Audits and Improvements : Conduct equipment and process audits, leading necessary improvements to ensure optimal operation.
Documentation : Develop and maintain process documentation that aligns with quality and safety requirements.
Manufacturing Efficiency : Analyze and plan workflows, space requirements, and equipment layouts to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
KPI and Process Flow Improvements : Track and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) and optimize manufacturing processes.
Training and Leadership : Provide direction and training to engineering technicians, maintenance staff, and manufacturing personnel as needed.
Production Support : Ensure smooth transitions from pre-production to full-scale production by coordinating trials, material availability, and equipment setup.
Troubleshooting : Assist in troubleshooting production equipment and recommend corrective actions to resolve issues.
Equipment Specifications : Develop specifications for new machinery, equipment, and tooling as required.
Manufacturing Floor Support : Provide hands-on support to ensure efficient operation and problem-solving on the manufacturing floor.
Safety : Proactively identify and address unsafe behaviors and conditions, ensuring a safe work environment.
Other Duties : Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
2-5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Strong knowledge of modern and cutting-edge manufacturing technologies.
Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new products and technologies.
Solid understanding of material processing, tooling, and part fabrication.
Proficient in using computers and related software.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
