Overview
Medical leadership for a program, site, or department. Additional primary responsibilities include working closely with administrative leadership to ensure quality / high value services, foster program development, assist in daily operations, work to develop strategic initiatives, and financial stewardship.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Education / Experience / Licensure
- MD. or .
- Medical specialty board certification and licensed for applicable state
- Prefer minimum three years active medical practice experience
- Demonstrated record of accomplishments providing successful administrative and provider leadership

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The duties of a medical director may include :
- Provides medical leadership over a specific program or department.
- Provides clinical direction, education, and support to staff.
- Works effectively as both a member and leader of the healthcare team.
- Responsive to patient, staff, and external inquiries in a timely fashion.
- Works collaboratively with other medical and administrative leaders to develop and further the vision and strategies of the program.
- Works collaboratively with system / hospital leadership to further the safety and clinical care of Legacy Health patients within LMG program or department.
- Clearly communicates performance and behavioral expectations to providers.
- Resolves complex issues and problems for the specific program or department.
- Models, monitors, and encourages the well-being of staff and provider colleagues.
- Complies with all federal and state privacy laws, always respecting the patient’s confidentiality.
- Demonstrates sensitivity and responsiveness to a diverse patient population, including but not limited to diversity in gender, age, culture, race, religion, disabilities, and sexual orientation.
- Reports safety and compliance concerns to management. Complies with all safety and compliance policies and procedures.
- Attends meetings required by the clinic or LMG leadership. Maintains an 80% attendance rate.
- Completes all required education and training to meet LMG leadership expectations.
- Documents and reports administrative work in accordance with LMG and / or Legacy leadership expectations.
- Acts as the physician leader for APP oversight.
- Complies with and demonstrates Legacy’s Values.
