Job Summary
The Title V Student Wellness and Basic Needs Specialist’s overall responsibility is to help ensure the well-being of CGCC students by leveraging existing campus resources and partnering with new community organizations to expand the network of support and referrals assisting under-resourced students.
The position is also responsible for designing and implementing new student mental health awareness programming for faculty and staff.
Essential Functions
40% Serve as subject matter expert to develop, coordinate, and implement a strategic plan to provide on-site wrap-around basic needs support to CGCC students.
Responsible for fostering strategic partnerships with on-campus stakeholders, and local and regional service agencies to build a comprehensive, multidisciplinary, integrated, and co-located basic need services approach at CGCC (including access to and navigation of mental health services, transportation, childcare, legal aid, emergency aid, benefits screening, food assistance, etc.
in a manner that connects students to long-term support.
30% Develop, coordinate, and implement student mental health awareness training services for faculty and staff. Coordinate and promote student mental health and holistic wellness workshop training and programming initiatives (, professional development workshops and seminars for staff and faculty, student special events, and class presentations).
Works with academic deans, department chairs, and faculty leads regarding student behavioral de-escalation professional development opportunities.
10% Assist in expanding CGCC’s directory of community resources and making it accessible to students, staff, and faculty.
Develop and promote service outreach campaigns, using all available communication platforms, particularly social media and a calendar of events.
Ensure CGCC’s Basic Needs webpage is regularly updated, accurate, accessible, and relevant by working with marketing staff.
5% Identify key performance indicators, track, and report service gaps from relevant data (CCSSE, Hope, in-house reports, etc.
to integrate feedback into program operations.
- 5% Assists college personnel with other student engagement activities that support student success, wellness, and a sense of belonging.
- 5% Attend relevant trainings and meetings to increase knowledge and expand contact network in the community
- Serve on college committees and councils, as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, sociology, business administration or related field and four (4) full-time equivalent years of progressively responsible student services experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating.
Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and six (6) full-time equivalent years of progressively responsible student services experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating.
High School Diploma or GED and eight (8) full-time equivalent years of progressively responsible student services experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating.
Desired Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, education, sociology, business administration, or other related field
- Experience working with diverse student populations in a college setting
- Experience developing and delivering professional training
- Demonstrated program management and administration experience
Special Working Conditions
- May be required to work at multiple sites or locations.
- May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
- May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs.
- Work is routinely performed in an indoor, office environment
