Event Planner in US Remote - DC Event Planner

OPIS, an IHS Markit Company is currently seeking an Events Planner to join our team. The Event Planner is responsible for overseeing the execution of industry leading live and virtual energy industry related events and training.

By working closely with the marketing, editorial and other internal teams the event planner will find innovative and engaging ways to deliver taking both a creative and operational approach - with energy, ambition, and a willingness to support all elements of the event, both large and small.

In addition, the successful candidate will also need to be able to manage a budget and think strategically about how to improve our event offerings.

The ability to develop relationships and successfully work in a team environment is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Plan the successful execution / operation of assigned in-person and virtual events
  • Assist with sourcing, shortlisting, negotiating, and confirming suitable venues
  • Manage hotel pre-event and on-site execution, including creating event orders, managing room block, and coordinating F&B requirements
  • Coordinate and attend planning meetings as needed
  • Pre-event preparation and live on-site execution, to include managing vendors and ensuring the best possible experience for all participants
  • Manage platform and production for individual portfolio of virtual events
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Effectively communicate with all levels of management and fellow employees
  • Work well under pressure and consistently meet deadlines
  • Manage multiple projects while remaining flexible and positive
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail

Education & Experience

  • A bachelor's degree in marketing, hospitality or other related field
  • 3 plus years of experience in live event management required, plus 1 year of experience in virtual events preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
  • Willingness to travel to assigned events and to work extended hours in the days leading up to an event and on-site if needed
