Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center, Indiana's first community mental health center, provides comprehensive care for emotional and behavioral problems, including severe mental illness and substance abuse.
The Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center offers both inpatient and outpatient services, including several outreach centers as well as clinic- and community-based services.

Where You Fit In
Within the team, the Support Specialist assumes a pivotal role by delivering essential skills training and development tailored to the specific needs dictated by medical necessity.
This position is integral in crisis management, responding adeptly to emergencies that may arise, encompassing interventions such as CPR and CPI.
Additionally, the Support Specialist actively engages in quality case management, ensuring that the care provided aligns with medical necessity criteria and is in accordance with the directives of the treatment team.

Am I Qualified?
- Education : High School Diploma or equivalent with two years in behavioral health
- OR Bachelor's / Associate's degree in Behavioral Health.
- Must possess a valid Indiana Driver's License and meet Eskenazi Health driving requirements.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Embraces and operates under the Recovery Model, including AIDET and motivational interviewing spirit.
- Delivers skills training to clients in group and individual settings based on medical necessity in the Person Centered Treatment Plan.
- Covers various skills such as home and self-care management, emotion management, and crisis interventions (CPR, CPI).
- Engages in quality case management directed by the treatment team and aligned with medical necessity.
- Provides transportation as needed, adhering to Vehicle-Related Accident Reporting Procedures.
- Meets agency standards for client service hours and timely completion of progress notes.
- Advocates for clients, fostering community relationships and resources for needed services.
- Reports client progress, challenges, and any care changes in treatment team staffing.
- Performs selected nursing procedures within scope of practice.
- Maintains a safe environment through ongoing assessment and intervention per treatment plans.
- Takes personal responsibility for annual development, including 20 hours of training on addictions, cultural competency, and trauma.
- Documents all client interactions with interventions or observations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge :
- Knowledge of best standards for age-appropriate care.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
- Training in the use and side effects of psychotropic medications.
Skills :
- Advanced critical thinking regarding assessment, crisis intervention, within a strength-based framework.
- Strong interpersonal skills / ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both verbal and written communication.
- Practice in mental health and addictions treatment.
- Experience in providing risk assessments.
Abilities :
- Ability to gather, interpret, and analyze client data.
- Ability to provide case presentations to AIC nursing and paramedic staff.
- Ability to receive feedback.
Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center's primary mission is to serve individuals with serious mental illness and chronic addiction as well as seriously emotionally disturbed children and their families.
