This role can be based in any of Arnold Ventures’ three offices : Houston, New York, or Washington, D.C., and reports to the Director of Health Care, Clinical Trials.
Core Responsibilities :
- Work with the Director and Vice President to develop and refine the strategic direction for the Health Care team’s Clinical Trials portfolio
- Help inform strategy and philanthropic project development by analyzing and synthesizing relevant research and policy developments in the field
- Develop clear and concise written materials for diverse audiences including but not limited to executive (Arnold Ventures’ Board, Health Care leadership team), and internal and external nontechnical audiences, in collaboration with team members
- Collaborate with colleagues and grantees to identify and develop charitable investments and grant recommendations to Arnold Ventures’ Board;
oversee and track progress of pipeline and existing investments and grants
- Manage grants and investments, track progress and impact, and draw lessons from these investments to inform strategic priorities and the development of future investments.
- Actively contribute to team meetings regarding projects, including suggesting ideas and brainstorming; and participate in meetings with government officials, researchers, program providers, and other stakeholders
- Collaborate with the Communications team to develop materials that elevate grantee products, relevant research, policy developments, and approaches
- Regular travel to the Washington, DC office expected (for team member based in Houston or New York)
Required Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 5 years of relevant work experience in positions involving policy analysis, research, life science consulting, or government initiatives relating to health policy
- Demonstrated understanding of federal policy and regulatory process. Knowledge of or clear interest in clinical trials, medical product approval processes, and related federal administrative and legislative policy (e.g., FDA, CMS)
- Experience synthesizing complex policy or research
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to research, summarize, and communicate key takeaways to diverse, nontechnical audiences, including executive audiences
- Strong strategy development, policy analysis and critical thinking skills
- Strong project management, and organizational skills
The salary range for this position will be : $95,000 - $130,000.
