Summary : This role is responsible for strategically positioning the Enterprise's products and services to meet client needs, building company revenues and meeting corporate objectives within assigned states by developing a business strategy and leading its implementation.

Based on relevant experience could be considered at Assistant State Product Manager, State Product Manager or at Sr. State Product Manager level.

What You'll Be Doing :

  • With full accountability for product profit and loss, develop and implement business plans to maximize Commercial Lines' profit and growth in assigned state(s).
  • Collaborate with Product and Underwriting Leaders to develop and implement business plans to meet profit and growth goals in assigned states.
  • Establish and implement business strategy for assigned states, including product development, pricing, and implementation processes (run-off and new products);
  • underwriting guidelines; portfolio mix planning and results (new / renewal); development of product contracts, forms and endorsements;

expense control (including commissions) and fee generation; bill plan selection and bad debt processing; and CAT mitigation efforts.

  • Manage agent relationships in assigned state(s). Influence agencies to adopt new technologies and best practices in the sales and service of Commercial Lines products.
  • Work closely with the Commercial Lines compliance function in assigned state(s) ensuring that products & rates are in compliance with all applicable statutes & regulations.
  • Lead the Commercial Lines competitive analysis function in assigned states. Keep current with industry trends and peer competitors' actions.

Analyze the impact on Grange and adjust business plans as required.

  • Partner with sales, marketing, claims, and IT to achieve desired business results in assigned states.
  • Stay abreast of current industry trends and state issues. Utilize this knowledge to formulate appropriate recommendations to management and drive product decisions consistent with the Commercial Lines strategy.

What You'll Bring To The Company :

Bachelor's degree preferred; advanced degree and / or professional designation (e.g. CPCU) preferred. One or more years of profit and loss responsibility, strategic marketing (consulting or corporate) and product management strongly desired.

Must have superior problem solving and analytical skills with proven ability to make data-driven decisions. Affinity for and proven ability in mathematics and complex quantitative analysis are critical to success in this role.

Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Ability to develop and execute a business strategy / vision required.
