Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the provider and / or practice manager, assists and delivers patient care duties, and provides administrative support throughout the practice.

This position assists the provider in examination and treatment of patients, performing miscellaneous delegated duties under the direction of provider.

This position also interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information in patients' charts. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.

The position will be cross-trained to perform duties to enhance efficiency and continuity of delivery of patient care.

The Ortho Technician is responsible for :

Under the supervision of the physician, assists in providing patient care orthopedic technician responsibilities (e.g.

splinting, casting, dressing functions) and performing medical assistant duties (e.g. charting, vitals, preparing injections).

  • May be requested to substitute for other office personnel and conduct responsibilities of front desk / check-out.
  • Any other duties relating to the business operation of the medical practice that may be assigned by the physician(s) or practice office manager.

Job Requirements :

  • Must either have six months experience as a Medical Assistant, OR, have graduated from an accredited MA or Medical Office Management program that meets nationally accepted standards.
  • Within one year from date of hire, continued employment will require s uccessful attainment and retention of CCMA, CMA (AAMA) or NCMA certification or RMA plus documented completion of a Medical Assisting program through an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • LPN : Graduate of accredited LPN program (or equivalent) with current Ohio license.

Preferred :

Completion of technical school or college orthopedic technician or technology program resulting in a certificate or an associate degree required.

Qualifications

Basic life support (BLS) certification preferred.
