Job Description

For over 30 years, Gilead has been a leading innovator in virology, and we developed today’s leading medicines for treating and preventing HIV and treating and curing viral hepatitis.
More recently Gilead has expanded its presence in liver by acquiring a new product for the treatment of Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC).
As the Senior Director, Inflammation Pipeline : Liver, Inflammation, COVID-19, and Established Products, you will guide our pre-POC activities for pipeline assets across inflammation and immunology, building product profiles and business cases, and representing the market and commercial voice for pipeline molecules.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Vice President, Global Commercial Liver, Inflammation, COVID-19 and Established Products, this role will support new and ongoing programs in the inflammation therapeutic area.
The role will require working collaboratively in a cross-functional environment to deliver robust commercial assessments, provide commercial feedback into development programs, and to lead key initiatives in support of future products.
Specific responsibilities will include :
Lead Early Commercialization Teams and supporting Program Strategy Teams from pre-clinical stage to initiation of phase III.
Support transition to inline teams for launch preparedness as programs enter late-stage development.
Evaluate commercial opportunities and develop business cases for pre-clinical assets under development, and establish strong collaborative partnerships with R&D to ensure that plans have the potential to deliver differentiated products and commercial value
Support the effective progression of programs through development stages by researching disease states and developing patient flows, situation assessments, target product profiles, and strategic options to maximize program value and return;
ensure that early product development optimally supports long-term commercial objectives (e.g., through trial endpoints and comparators, target product profiles, and other value drivers related to product development)
Synthesize the commercial perspectives, insights and results needed to identify and / or assess business development opportunities for potential acquisition and partnering, including proactively identifying & elevating opportunities of high commercial interest
Lead teams to develop and leverage deep payer, provider, patient, market and competitive insights to support the creation of differentiated product and disease-state strategies that maximize program value
Partner with Commercialization Teams, Global Value & Access, and selected country teams to solicit local insights, share global perspectives and integrate into global strategies.
Liaise with regional leadership on strategic choices.
Lead early commercialization work for pipeline programs as needed, potentially including branding, naming, packaging, development of support services, etc.
Serve as commercial lead in support of key collaborative programs between Gilead and partners
Your ultimate benchmark will be the successful development of differentiated molecules that maximize the overall commercial value and patient reach
Basic Qualifications :
Bachelor's Degree and Fourteen Years’ Experience
Masters' Degree and Twelve Years’ Experience
PhD and Twelve Years’ Experience
Preferred Qualifications :
We’re seeking an individual with :
At least 12 years of relevant leadership experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, including strategic planning and lifecycle brand management
B.A. or B.S. required, MBA and / or advanced degree in life sciences / medicine preferred
Inflammation or product development experience & knowledge preferred
Experience with the development process and its relevant inputs, with ability to understand how early research & development decisions may impact a final product profile
Strong experience in disease area opportunity assessment and the evaluation of partnership and pipeline opportunities. Opportunistic thinker with strong judgement and analytical mindset.
Experience with global access and pricing strategy, including building a value story and evidence planning. Knowledge of US payer dynamics strongly preferred.
Ability to develop deep and credible collaborations with partners in Medical Affairs, Research, Development, V&A, and Regulatory groups as well as senior leadership
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully with varied audiences and executives
Strong analytical skills demonstrated by the ability to identify and interpret complex issues and provide recommendations to senior management and across functional areas

The salary range for this position is : $237,660.00 - $307,560.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
