The Brooklyn Brewery seeks a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Manager to join our team. The HR Manager will oversee all aspects of human resources practices and processes and will play a crucial role in ensuring legal compliance, fostering diversity, and enhancing the overall employee experience.
This role will report to the Controller.
Responsibilities :
Recruitment and Employee Lifecycle :
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment process including job postings, screening, interviewing, and selection using the Applicant Tracking System on Paycom
- Manage the end-to-end onboarding and offboarding processes for employees, ensuring a seamless experience from initial offer acceptance to exit.
- Maintain standardized onboarding procedures to welcome new hires and integrate them into the company culture effectively.
- Conduct new hire orientation sessions to familiarize employees with company policies, procedures, and expectations.
- Serve as a point of contact for new hires, addressing questions and concerns during the onboarding process.
- Collaborate with IT and facilities teams to set up equipment for new hires.
- Conduct exit interviews and gather feedback from departing employees to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Process offboarding paperwork, including termination notices, benefits changes, and final paychecks.
- Coordinate with IT to revoke access and collect company property from departing employees.
Employee Relations :
- Manage employee relations by serving as a trusted resource for employees and managers, addressing concerns and resolving conflicts in a timely and professional manner.
- Conduct investigations into employee complaints or incidents, documenting findings and recommending appropriate actions.
- Maintain accurate incident files and documentation, ensuring confidentiality and compliance.
- Provide guidance and support to managers on employee performance issues, disciplinary actions, and termination procedures.
- Collaborate with legal counsel as needed to ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
- Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
Performance Management :
- Assess the training and development needs of the company.
- Collaborate with The Leadership Program team to administer training sessions.
- Work with managers across all departments in conducting annual performance reviews.
Compliance :
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Develop and update HR policies and procedures as necessary.
- Coordinate annual audits such as Workers Comp, 401k compliance testing, and Section 125 compliance testing to ensure adherence to policies and regulations.
- Coordinate and administer annual mandatory trainings such as the Anti-Sexual Harassment Training and Safe Spaces.
Benefits & 401k Plan (Empower) :
- Administer and manage all aspects of employee benefit programs serving as the main contact for benefits-related inquiries.
- Collaborate with brokers to implement benefit enhancements to our plans.
- Implement initiatives to enhance employee understanding and utilization of benefits such as webinars between employees and vendors.
- Provide guidance and support to employees regarding benefit options and enrollment processes.
- Manage open enrollment periods for our health insurance, FSA, and HRA plans.
- Communicate all plan updates to employees.
- Administer the company's 401k plan, ensuring compliance with regulations and providing support to employees.
- Review and approve the weekly payroll import from Paycom to Empower on the Empower site.
- Manage all aspects of employee leave programs, including New York Paid Family Leave (NYPFL), FMLA, and other statutory and company-specific leave policies.
- Review and approve all invoices from vendors and send them to the accounting team for payment.
Payroll Processing :
- Process payroll on a weekly basis through our payroll provider, Paycom.
- Collaborate with the accounting department to ensure payroll compliance and resolve any discrepancies.
- Create and generate ad-hoc reports in response to specific inquiries or requests from other departments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in HR management.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices.
- Experience with payroll processing and familiarity with the Paycom software.
- Proficiency in website management.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Salary : $75,000 - $90,000 / year dependent on experience.
