Position Summary
The Department of English at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, invites applications for a non-tenure track, Visiting Teaching Faculty position in Creative Writing that will begin January 10, 2025.
The appointment will be issued for a two-and-half-year period, concluding with the 2026-27 academic year.
We seek an individual with expertise in teaching multi-genre (poetry / prose) introductory courses; intermediate poetry workshops;
and special topics workshops that can add to our growing and lively Creative Writing minor. The successful applicant will be expected to be an effective teacher and will have a 3-3 teaching load.
Required Qualifications Applicants must hold an M.F.A. in creative writing or be ABD (including an M.A.) for the Ph.D. in creative writing or English with a creative writing emphasis at the time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications Previous undergraduate teaching experience in creative writing; previous experience teaching first-year undergraduate writing.
Ph.D. in hand, for those pursuing that degree.
