Sr Network Engineer

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Drive the design, maintenance, and support of a variety of routed and switched TCP / IP networking systems including LAN / WAN / VPN / WIFI / Mobile Devices in a highly secure, regulated banking environment.
• Leverage several network management and analysis systems to monitor, troubleshoot, plan and measure network and host communication and performance at all levels of the OSI model.
• Drive the design and configuration of firewalls, routing, and switching to enhance security, ensure high availability, improve functionality, and support scalability.
• Drive the design, implementation, and securing of core networking infrastructure in Azure
• Establish and maintain connections between on-premises networks and Azure and monitor network performance
• Identify and apply Networking Security Best Practices.
• Maintain and support Wings Financial Enterprise voice communication equipment, systems, and solutions.
• Maintain and support all Wings Financial Voice and Data Service Provider connections.
• Assist with the maintenance and support of Wings Financial Corporate cellular solutions, including but not limited to cell phones, smartphones, and cellular gateways.
• Ensure the highest level of security and availability for core and branch networking and telephony systems.
• Acts as a key collaborative resource with business, leadership, and technology teams for routine issues and project-related requirements.
• Drive the Development and maintenance of knowledge base and procedural documentation.
• Drive engagement in a continuous cross-training environment with junior team members
• Continuous learning and development for relevant technology platforms and disciplines are expected for this position.

SKILLS TO PERFORM JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Required at start : Advanced understanding of core TCP / IP protocol suite and ability to troubleshoot.
• Required at start : Advanced understanding of network security systems, processes, appliances and software suites.
• Required at start : Advanced knowledge and experience with Enterprise Network solutions such as Cisco IOS-based Routers and Switches, Meraki SD-WAN, Extreme Wireless, etc.
• Required at Start : Advanced experience with Microsoft Azure design and implementation a plus.
• Required at start : Advanced experience with Security Information and event management (SIEM) and syslog event correlation systems.
• Required at start : Expert-level knowledge and experience with WAN routing and design including MPLS, BGP, etc.
• Required at start : Advanced knowledge of Windows and Linux OS especially relating to networking and security.
• Required at start : Strong knowledge of cellular technologies.
• Required at start : Strong knowledge and experience managing service provider circuit technologies.
• Extensive experience managing enterprise-level network firewall and VPN technologies. Application firewall experience a plus.
• Extensive experience with Extreme network solutions a plus.
• Extensive experience with Palo Alto security solutions a plus
• Extensive experience with SolarWinds Orion Suite a plus.
• Prefer experience working in regulated Credit Union or Banking network environments.

EDUCATION, SKILLS and EXPERIENCE :

• Any combination of education or experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in information systems or related field, with a minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience with LAN / WAN technology.
• 8 - 10+ years of experience in networking engineering role.
• Experience working with network event and log management systems required.
• Industry certification highly desirable (ex : CCNA, PCNSA, Extreme Certified Associate, CISSP)
• Experience with cloud networking (e.g. Azure)
• Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g. Python, Terraform)
• Experience working with VOIP and / or Cloud UC solutions required.
• Organization and prioritization skills essential.
• Ability to work alone or with little supervision.
• Interest in pursuing further education and training.
• Must stay current with industry trends and evolving network technologies.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for local travel. Some travel is required both local and nationwide.
• Knowledge of credit union financial services beneficial
