POSITION STATUS : Exempt-Full-time - 40 hours per week

SALARY : $35-$37 an hour

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION :

Responsible for providing strength-based, family-centered home-visiting therapeutic services to at-risk families for all Differential Response referrals from the Human Services Agency Child Welfare Services Department.

The majority of the families we serve have a child in the home screened out by CPS as low to moderate risk. Clinician will conduct thorough assessments of family needs and will provide individual, family, and / or group therapy to address those needs and strengthen the family's ability to function.

Clinicians will be based in San Mateo County.

POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES :

This position will provide therapeutic services which may include therapy (family, individual, group), case management, assessment, advocacy, treatment planning and coordination for assigned clients and families.

Knowledge and experience working with abuse, family violence, and substance abuse matters is a must. We are committed to culturally sensitive, strengths based, and trauma informed care.

Clinicians will collaborate with other staff in the coordination of ethically appropriate, theoretically sound, culturally sensitive, trauma informed and holistic interventions to address family issues and enhance client and family member strengths.

Requirements :

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

  • Provide home, community and office-based therapeutic treatment to children and families of monolingual Spanish and / or English-speaking families.
  • Complete psychosocial assessments, develop treatment plans, and (with supervisory support if unlicensed) assign DSM-5 diagnoses, when appropriate.
  • Provide ethically appropriate, theoretically sound, culturally sensitive, strengths based, trauma informed, and intensive short term treatment individual and group therapy.
  • Maintain timely and clinically appropriate documentation of all services provided.
  • Participates in regularly scheduled supervisory team meetings and trainings
  • Attend professional development trainings and community meetings
  • Coordinate services with community partners and StarVista treatment team members
  • Comply with documentation requirements and participate in program evaluation efforts.
  • Works collaboratively with other agencies involved with assigned families / clients
  • Develop and implement parent education / support groups focused on parenting, domestic violence, and other pertinent topics
  • Sensitivity to the cultural diversity of employees and clients
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned
  • Expectation to work evenings and weekends when necessary
  • Travel throughout San Mateo County

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED :

  • Fluency in Spanish is required
  • Experience working with underprivileged populations
  • Experience working with children and families that have been involved in issues relating to abuse (verbal, physical, sexual, family violence and neglect)
  • Experience working within a variety of treatment modalities including family systems work, induvial & group therapy etc.
  • Awareness of substance abuse issues and how they impact a family system
  • Willingness to provide treatment within the community that the client lives (home, school, satellite clinic, etc.)
  • Knowledge of San Mateo community health resources
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team setting, establishing, and maintaining effective working relationships
  • Strong organization and communication skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written and consultations skills
  • Demonstrable and verifiable clinical skills and experience in providing therapy services.
  • Strong ethical principles reflected in practice, including a thorough understanding of client confidentiality requirements, appropriate clinical record keeping, and federal / state laws governing the practice of mental health services.
  • Understanding of issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion. Willingness to explore self in relation to these issues, and ability to provide culturally informed therapeutic services to diverse clientele.
  • Skilled in maintaining positive relationships and collaborating with other systems, including parents, school, probation, CPS, and other programs.
  • Ability to work as a team member with staff and upper management to accomplish tasks supporting the agency's mission.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Graduate degree in Social Work, Professional Clinical Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology.
  • Clinical license or license eligible (registered with BBS)
  • Fluency in Spanish is required
  • HR clearance required, including TB test, and Department of Justice Live Scan Fingerprint clearance
  • Valid CA Driver's license, working car, proof of auto insurance
