POSITION SUMMARY :
Houston Food Bank’s Food for Change (FFC) initiative utilizes food as a catalyst to connect clients to programs and services that address the fundamental causes and consequences of hunger.
The Economic Partnerships Manager works with housing, financial capability, and workforce development organizations to improve the economic health of families and help move Houston Food Bank (HFB) towards its vision of "a world that doesn't need food banks".
This position is responsible for maintaining and managing smooth operations of all day-to-day Economic Partnership functions including the supervision of staff activities.
This position identifies and develops partnerships with organizations that can leverage food resources to help families achieve long-term financial health and security.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Reliable, consistent, attendance is a requirement. This position requires punctuality and dependable attendance to meet the needs of the business, including attending and taking part in meetings and presentations.
- Creates strategic plan and objectives for the economic mobility portfolio of work that aligns with the Houston Food Bank’s strategic direction.
- Guides leadership in creating a community impact agenda focused on moving thousands of families within this population to stabilization through Food Scholarship programs and pilots.
- Supports the connection and alignment between benefit assistance care coordination, and economic mobility.
- Works closely with departmental team members to proficiently understand the different topical areas related to education and economic projects.
- Creates SMART goals for themselves and the team based on program objectives that will drive the overall success and scale of our economic mobility work.
- Designs KPIs for accurate reporting of performance based on agreed-upon benchmarks.
- Recruits organizations that provide programming in FFC economic focus areas (e.g., financial capability, housing, workforce development, etc.
to participate in FFC economic programming (e.g. Food Scholarship).
- Establishes and develops relationships with FFC partners, FFC pantries, researchers, and service providers to successfully implement FFC economic programming.
- Maintains and manages relationships with various community collaborators and provides exceptional customer service and support to all internal and external stakeholders.
- Improves the system to successfully distribute food resources to economic program participants, along with the FFC partner(s) and FFC team members.
- Improves the system to identify and collect relevant data from FFC economic partnership projects to show the impact of combining food resources with programming, along with the FFC partner(s), and FFC team members.
- Coordinates internal activities with key staff members to effectively support the goals of each FFC economic partnership project.
This includes identifying and sourcing the right product for economic program participants, coordinating logistics, and measuring the impact of food distributions.
- Creates, develops, and standardizes FFC economic programming processes and procedures.
- Develops, coordinates, and delivers FFC economic program orientations and trainings.
- Compiles and presents FFC reports and findings to HFB leadership.
- Coordinates activities associated with FFC economic collaborative initiatives.
- Facilitates partnership meetings, oversees and / or supports collaborative projects, and serves as a liaison to the HFB.
- Attends and actively participates in relevant community partnership groups and meetings.
- Represents HFB in a variety of settings, and conducts presentations at community events, meetings, and conferences.
- Maintains a system to efficiently document FFC economic partners, projects, and relevant pantries.
- Maintains paper and electronic records of FFC economic partners, projects, and relevant pantries.
- Writes and / or submits grant proposals.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Manages one (1) or more direct reports by providing guidance and / or oversight to employees and / or contractors. Develops and maintains roles, responsibilities, and expectations.
Practices performance management in support of employee development, and perform administrative duties associated with being a people manager.
Responsibilities include interviewing, planning, assigning, directing work, and resolving problems. Responsibilities also include sponsoring and participating in and / or supporting project teams sponsored by other management team members.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Education / Experience :
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four year college or university in Social Sciences, Business, Education, or a closely related field, Master's degree preferred
- 2+ years of program evaluation experience
- 2+ years of supervision experience
- Experience writing grants or submitting grant proposals
- Experience working in workforce development or job training / placement preferred
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations :
Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and insurance.

TRAVEL REQUIRED :
Travel is required for this position (up to 40% of the time and on a domestic basis within our 18-county service area).
This role supports hours of operations at the Houston Food Bank facilities, as necessary, and may require flexibility (e.
g., times of disaster, community events, company events).
