This job is wellness practitioners who develop nutritional plans to promote health, treat illness or prevent disease. Works under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian (RD) and also the Department Food Services Director.

Responsible for pertinent dietary notes in Patient Medical Records required by Licensing Agent. Assist physicians in performing nutritional assessments or caloric counts.

Also performs patient visitation.

Education

Required - High School Diploma or equivalent

Work Experience

Required - 5 years proven experience in hospital and / or nursing home food service with an extensive background in charting in patient medical records, making written and / or oral recommendations to physicians, having conference with nursing personnel concerning a patient in question

Certifications

Preferred - Registered Dietetics Technician

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

• Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
• Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of and ability to work within the confines of a Quality Assurance Program.
• Ability to work extended and flexible shifts.
• Ability to move freely throughout and between facilities, as needed.

Job Duties

• Shift Work : Must be able to work a rotating schedule including weekends and holidays with a start times as early as 5am
• Assessment.

• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to : respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.

Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue, but exposure or potential for exposure may occur.

The incumbent works with patients who have known or suspected communicable diseases and may enter isolation rooms. The incumbent has an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases.

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and / or disposal of contaminated waste.

The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
