Lead Data Analyst

Job Summary

The Data Analyst, Lead is a technical position that requires strong data architecture discipline as related to technical solution design, along with excellent communication skills.

This position is responsible for gathering data requirements, designing, executing, and updating data models, performing data analysis, and ensuring data quality to support AMC's strategic information objectives.

This position is based in Leawood, KS and is not eligible for relocation.

What you'll be doing :

  • Create and modify logical and physical database models for AMC's Enterprise Data Team.
  • Produce Data Definition Language (DDL) to create, alter, and drop objects for on-premises SQL Servers, Azure SQL databases, and Azure Synapse Workspaces.
  • Develop and refine Structured Query Language (SQL) queries, updates, inserts, and deletes.
  • Create and maintain data objects (e.g., stored procedures, views).
  • Analyze and profile data sources to inform data architecture decisions.
  • Create source-to-target mapping documents that define transformations and business rules using tools like Erwin or equivalent.
  • Support integration developers and Quality Assurance (QA) analysts in developing and testing Azure Pipelines and Data Stage pipelines.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices and data governance policies, including utilizing provided enterprise toolsets.
  • Define internal and enterprise data service standards and promote industry standards in data management.

What we need from you :

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in related field.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience with Data Modeling tools, source to target Data mapping and defining Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes, and hands-on SQL scripting.
  • 5+ years of experience with Data profiling, Gap analysis, and Impact analysis.
  • Working knowledge of relational, master data, and data warehouse database concepts.
  • Proficient in data modeling for both transactional and dimensional databases.
  • Expert ability to work with SQL databases, including working knowledge of SQL Server Database Management System (DBMS).
  • Solid understanding of data quality and governance concepts, tools, and methods.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

What we also value :

  • Hands-on experience with Python programming.
  • Knowledge of real-time analytics and Business Intelligence (BI) platforms such as Tableau.
  • Hands on experience with Azure Cloud platform, including Azure SQL database, Azure Synapse, and Azure Data Factory.
  • Working knowledge of Hadoop platforms and data components like Hive, Hbase, or Impala
  • Openness to innovation and individual growth, with respect for self and others.
