Professional Engineer – Drainage

Compensation : $96,000 – $130,000 / year

Employment type : Full-time

Overview

As a Professional Engineer for Drainage at Horrocks, you will work on large, multi-discipline transportation projects while developing diverse skill sets.

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform and direct hydrology and hydraulic design work for DOT projects (bridges, roadways, highways, freeways).
  • Prepare studies, reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for transportation projects.
  • Work within a team of project managers, design engineers, technicians, and support staff to complete projects.
  • Interface with state and local agencies and coordinate meetings with project stakeholders.
  • Assist in proposal preparation including oral presentations.
  • Prepare the scope, schedule, and budget for new projects and meet project deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) required.
  • 4–10 years of hydraulic design experience including roadway drainage, flood control, erosion control, and stormwater treatment facilities.
  • Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer (ORD), ORD Drainage and Utilities, StormCAD, PondPack, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT, AASHTO, and FHWA highway drainage design criteria.
  • Proven communication, client interaction, and team collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage concurrent projects and meet deadlines and budgets.
  • Preferred : Experience and relationships with transportation and flood control agencies.
