Position Summary

This Temporary Lab / Research Technician will support the daily operation of the pilot plant including but not limited to cleaning, sanitation, and production of dairy products.

The individual in this role will gain exposure to novel dairy products, as well as opportunities to collaborate with regulators, entrepreneurs, and dairy processors.

This is a part-time, 20 hours per week, with up to 39 hours per week as needed. The appointment will be for six months plus one day with possibility of extension dependent on available work, continued funding and successful performance.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma and up to 1 year relevant experience or equivalent combination.

Ability to work independently and take initiative while supporting the efforts of an overall team. Attention to detail a must.

Familiarity with dairy / food processing equipment and general sanitation procedures.

Attention to detail and ability to work with a variety of lab and support personnel.

Maintain high standards in both quality control and food plant safety.

Experience ordering supplies and effectively managing inventory.

Must be flexible, have excellent organizational skills and be able to prioritize multiple projects.

Able to develop effective working relationships with a wide variety of faculty, staff and students.

Must be able to lift and move 50 lbs. repeatedly throughout the day and work standing the majority of the day.

Must be able to work in cold and warm conditions.

Must be able to perform basic on-line operations that allow the tracking of orders, inventory, tech repair, and timecards.

Individual is expected to attend the necessary safety training courses at Cornell for Lab and Chemical Safety.
