Position Overview :

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Forensic Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will utilize their engineering expertise to conduct forensic investigations, analyze structural failures, and produce comprehensive reports.

This role involves working closely with engineers, geologists, and other professionals to assess property damage, design repairs, and provide expert testimony in legal cases.

The Forensic Engineer will manage multiple projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget, while also providing leadership and mentorship to team members.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Apply engineering knowledge and communication skills to collaborate with engineers, geologists, and other professionals in forensic investigations.
  • Perform calculations, summarize results, and prepare technical reports, including text and illustrations.
  • Write proposals and prepare and monitor project budgets.
  • Conduct site inspections for residential and commercial properties to determine the cause, origin, and duration of reported damage or structural failure.
  • Produce detailed forensic engineering reports outlining the cause, origin, and duration of damage.
  • Design and generate construction documents for repair, remediation, and / or construction projects.
  • Provide expert testimony in legal cases related to insurance claims for property damage.
  • Manage multiple projects, ensuring execution within budget and on time.
  • Lead and mentor teammates and technical staff.
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding project status.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Florida Professional Engineer registration, or the ability to obtain it within 3 years of hire.
  • Demonstrated comfort with forensic engineering, including potential deposition and trial testimony; experience with law firms and insurance companies is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; candidates must provide sample reports.
  • Physical ability to perform field inspections in Florida's hot, humid, and possibly hazardous conditions, including lifting equipment weighing 50 lbs or more.
  • Capability to drive or ride on long in-state day trips, with occasional overnight stays as required.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Good interpersonal skills for interaction with teammates, clients, and property owners.
  • Ability to work independently, use initiative, and meet deadlines.
  • Legal, state-issued driver’s license and a clean driving record; willingness to use a personal vehicle for company business if necessary.
  • Willingness to undergo a background check and pre-employment screening.
