Job Overview for the Field Support Engineer : We are seeking a self-motivated Field Support Engineer who excels in direct customer interaction, possesses strong technical writing skills, and is capable of providing valuable feedback to the Product Development Group for product enhancements.
The Field Support Engineer will be responsible for independently assembling, commissioning, inspecting, repairing, and troubleshooting systems, both domestically and internationally.
Qualifications of the Field Support Engineer :
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Field Support role with decision-making authority
- Certificate or degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering
- Willingness to travel up to 70% of the time (includes domestic and international travel)
- Proficiency in writing trip reports, return material authorizations, test reports, and corrective action reports
- Strong knowledge of PLCs is highly preferred
- Ability to read, comprehend, and troubleshoot systems using electrical schematics
- Proficiency in working with Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Must possess a clean driving record
- Fearless when it comes to working at elevated heights
- Experience with PLCs, VFDs, data acquisition, wiring, power equipment, and industrial electricity is required. Experience with Siemens, ABB, and TMEiC platforms is highly desirable.
- Must currently hold or be eligible to obtain a valid passport for travel into and outside of the United States.
Responsibilities of the Field Support Engineer :
- Regular communication and interaction with customers, end-users, vendors, and contractors.
- Support in scheduling and coordinating the participation of relevant parties to inspect and witness the final equipment installation at the site, as well as in the execution of start-up and commissioning activities.
- Internal coordination to ensure prompt response to customer inquiries.
- Onsite and remote troubleshooting of PLCs, VFDs, and other automated equipment.
- Repairs of onsite-installed equipment at customer facilities, including both warranty and non-warranty claims.
- Conduct routine inspections of existing system installations.
- Take responsibility for the proper implementation of pre-commissioning activities in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and automation disciplines, ensuring work quality and generating accurate reports.
- Travel to customer sites to conduct final commissioning activities and demonstrate equipment functionality according to specifications to achieve customer acceptance.
- Support the project team in clearing and signing-off all mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and automation punch list items in line with project requirements.
- Attend project and construction meetings as necessary.
- Deliver technical training to operators and maintenance personnel.
- Act as an on-site trouble-shooter, promptly addressing technical issues, analyzing and resolving faults, and providing ongoing technical support to customers.
