Special Education Teacher
Location : Forest Park, IL
Position Type : Full-Time
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Provide direct instruction and support in both one-on-one and small group settings.
- Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet the unique needs of students.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to modify lesson plans and assessments as needed.
- Assess and document student progress regularly, adjusting interventions and supports as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with parents / guardians regarding student progress, goals, and strategies for support.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to contribute to the development and review of IEPs.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records related to student performance and educational plans.
- Stay current with best practices in special education and contribute to ongoing professional development.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Special Education endorsement.
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs and disabilities.
- Strong knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and compliance.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and educational staff.
