Albuquerque Multi-service Group Home operated by AMIkids Sandoval provides emergency transitional living and supportive services for males ages 13-18 referred by protective services, juvenile justice, parental unit, or tribal social services based on a finding / suspected finding of abuse, neglect, delinquency, substance use, or other at-risk problems.
Position Summary
The Registered Nurse role is responsible for ensuring all AMIkids Program clients receive proper medical treatment as dictated by National, State, and Contracting Organization standards.
Ensure triage and routine medical care to include episodic care, admission required screenings, medical record upkeep, and communication with offsite medical providers, medical related training for Program Team Members, routine emergency drills, and monitoring of youth medical and dental needs.
Schedule : Part time (20 hours per week / flexible)
Essential Job Functions
- Conduct daily sick call as required by policy,
- Supervise the administration of all medication and maintain Medication Administration Records for all program youth,
- Supervise all medication procurement, verification, perpetual inventories, and proper storage,
- Ensure follow-up instructions from all off campus providers are followed as ordered and recorded in the Electronic Medical Records and / or Individual Health Care Records as required,
- Conduct and document in service training for all team members for medical related issues,
- Communicate with Administration and / or Shift Supervisor every day prior to sick call and conduct shift-to shift medication count at end of day,
- Conduct and document health education classes for all students / family as needed,
- Communicate with other department staff regarding medical needs of youth when participating on a treatment team as a treatment team member
- Maintain clean, professional and kids’ friendly medical clinic,
- Effective implementation of Behavior Skills Training by providing redirection and coaching to students who exhibit inappropriate behavior,
- Administer first aid and CPR during emergencies in accordance with National standards,
- Drive program vehicles as required in accordance with the transportation guidelines. Maintain approved driving status as stated in the transportation policy,
- Serve as a positive role model for all youth,
- May be required to work evenings and weekends as needed,
- Obtain and maintain appropriate crisis intervention and physical restraint training and certification as defined by state requirements,
- Must obtain and maintain current ACLS, BLS AED certification by nationally recognized organization,
- Attend required trainings / professional development events and maintain appropriate certifications and licensure,
- Assist / lead special projects and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education, Training and Experience
Associate's degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred,
Clear and Active license and Nursing Degree must be in good standing in the State of employment,
Experience in pediatric nursing and / or within a correctional facility preferred,
- Intermediate Microsoft skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PPT),
- Experience with electronic medical records preferred.
