Job Summary :

This recruitment is seeking to fill the role of a Unit Manager in the Data / Engineering, within the Safe Drinking Water Section.

This Unit is responsible for drinking water data entry, drinking water database management and reporting to EPA, engineering review of drinking water systems and source water protection program.

In order to be successful in this role, the selected candidate must have strong leadership skills to effectively manage a strong technical team with expertise in data management, engineering practices and hydrogeology.

This position is available for remote work on a full-time basis within Arizona (including virtual office arrangements).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs) :

  • Other skills that will be critical to be successful in this role include but are not limited to the following;
  • Familiarity with the Safe Drinking Water Act, Arizona Administrative Code, Statutory and other regulatory provisions, as applicable.
  • Background in the Safe Drinking Water Act and engineering practices as it relates to drinking water systems
  • Ability to identify and include stakeholders as necessary when guidance, policy or legal provisions change over time.
  • Prioritization of team engagement through professional development, training, staff optimization and strategic planning.
  • Discretion and good judgment with respect to contentious permitting actions with high public interest.
  • Collaborative approaches to people management and stakeholder involvement.
  • Skilled in public speaking, executive briefings and negotiation.
  • Solution oriented thinker with proficiency in project management and problem solving.

Selective Preference(s) :

Bachelor’s degree in biology, hydrology; geology; civil / environmental engineering; environmental science; geological / mining engineering;

sustainability; environmental law; or a closely related field

  • Master’s Degree (preferred in) biology, hydrology; geology; civil or geotechnical engineering; environmental science; environmental law; or a closely related field
  • 5+ years of experience in principles related to drinking water systems.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in relevant fields as mentioned.
