VP University Business Development

2U partners with elite postsecondary institutions globally to deliver the world’s best digital education through degree programs, short courses, and bootcamps.
To achieve those partnerships, this position is responsible for establishing, cultivating, and expanding relationships into new universities and existing partnerships resulting in new contracts.
In this role, the successful applicant will own all aspects of the sales process, from pipeline generation, nurturing, contracting, and signature.
This person will work very closely with a member of the Program Strategy team to maximize deal closing efficiency and assure the right program is designed.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To :
- Cross Product Pipeline Management : Implement partnership development strategies to drive revenue growth across new and existing 2U / edX partners.
- Sales Process Management : Autonomously move new programs through an efficient sales process and into contract.
- Relationship Management : Develop and build strong relationships with new program partners and 2U internal teams in service of elevating and expanding our campus footprint.
The successful candidate will be capable of signing multi-programs at a university at the same time.
- Understand Complex Systems : Represent all facets of both the bundled and flexible service offerings to the highest levels of university and school administration, including formal administrative presentations to Board of Trustee presentations and hosted social engagements.
- Contract Management : Socialize all major deal points through the sales process ensuring the university is aware of all key contract points at the time of negotiation.
Actively manage the internal contract process with our 2U General Counsel office.
Market Synthesis : Provide discipline-specific market insights that add value to partner conversations and have an informed opinion about online and hybrid digital education as well as higher education;
be a thought-leader both internally and externally.
Travel : Regular travel expected when permitted and dependent on potential partnership opportunities.
Things That Should Be In Your Background :
- 15 years of sales experience; experience in enterprise-level sales and complex deal structures including long-term revenue share agreements.
- Demonstrated partnership development success / track record of developing complex relationships from the earliest stages through to contract.
- Excellent internal and external communication skills both verbal and written with great interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Enthusiasm for independent work as part of an ever-changing, dynamic team.
- A willingness to find the answers that may not be obvious.
- Proven track record of project managing complex sales processes.
- Experience developing relationships with C-level executives or highly ranked administrators.
- Terminal degree or equivalent experience.

In Colorado, the anticipated base salary for this role is $177,000, with potential bonus and equity eligibility. Note : The final compensation for this position may consider factors including the geographic location where the work is performed (candidate’s assigned office) and prior work experience of the candidate.
