Job Summary

Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a candidate to provide electrical engineering and design for water and wastewater facility projects.

  • Qualified candidate should have basic knowledge in industrial power design, including medium and low voltage electrical power distribution, generator design, motor control, VFDs, lighting systems, equipment layout and related activities.
  • Candidate should have basic working knowledge of the NEC and related Codes.
  • Candidate must have good communication skills, including interaction with senior engineers, clients, and contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Support the lead electrical engineer on multiple concurrent projects for water and wastewater facilities.
  • Prepare project specifications
  • Perform conductor sizing, conduit sizing, protective device sizing, lighting, and other electrical calculations
  • Coordinate with civil, process-mechanical, structural, architectural, HVAC, and instrumentation disciplines
  • Perform site visits as needed
  • Perform electrical design work in AutoCAD and / or Revit as required by the project
  • Perform electrical power system studies in SKM and / or ETAP as required by the project
  • Review shop drawings and respond to request for information
  • Support the lead electrical engineer to perform factory witness testing of electrical equipment as required by the project
  • Minimum Professional Qualification

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in heavy industrial Electrical Engineering and Design; Prior experience in water / wastewater industry is desirable
  • Familiarity with industrial power distribution system
  • Experience in Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with SKM or ETAP power system software is desirable
  • Experience with AutoCAD and / or Revit BIM software is desirable
  • EIT certification is desirable
