Position Overview :
The Shop Foreman's primary role is mentoring, training, and developing technicians. This role assigns work to service technicians to attain the highest quality, morale, safety, and efficiency within the company's service team.
The shop foreman will know how to diagnose / troubleshoot and monitor workflow and tickets passed out to technicians in the computer system and dispatch.
The shop foreman also oversees our company's day-to-day operations. You will also be required to manage inventory and enforce safety regulations.
A qualified candidate must be Mazda certified with a minimum of 2 years experience as a Mazda technician.
To ensure success as a shop foreman, you should be highly organized and have excellent communication skills. Ultimately, a top-notch shop foreman should be able to anticipate and address hindrances to operational efficiency.
Who You Are :
- 5 + years of experience as an automotive Master Service Technician with experience in diagnosing and performing maintenance work on all makes and models of vehicles
- You have experience in technician coaching, training, and specialties to maintain and grow the certification statuses of current staff while recruiting and training new talent
- Quality is a focus and can follow processes to ensure customer satisfaction
- A team player who is process-oriented with the ability to work independently, as a team with fellow lube techs, express lane advisors, & other store personnel
- Enjoy problem-solving and are passionate about staying educated and learning new technology
- Previous work history reflects commitment and stability
- High sense of urgency and ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing competing priorities
Essential Functions :
- Monitoring all aspects of the productivity of the technicians daily
- Manage / review a daily productivity report
- Aid in scheduling predetermined work through the shop daily to decrease the length of wait times and increase productivity
- Dispatching / scheduling specific jobs to specific technicians based on certifications, skill levels, and hourly rate
- Providing diagnosis and up-sell estimates to the service on the most technical automotive repairs
- Advise the manager of any deviations from technician schedules.
- Setting technician productivity and efficiency goals with the service manager
- Managing technicians' productivity in the sense that they need to be kept working / productive during their shift
- Ensure Warranty policies and guidelines are adhered to
- Daily review of Customer Satisfaction (Brand CSI, Online Reviews) surveys with technician staff
- Ensure that shop safety standards are inspected and enforced in the shop work environment
- Perform Technician reviews quarterly and report to Service Manage
- Technician Productivity and efficiency goals are accurately and consistently achieved.
- Consistently high levels of customer satisfaction as measured by manufacturer, company, and dealership-sponsored surveys
- Profitable and effective use of the service department's assets
Qualifications :
- Mazda Certified with 2 + years of Technician experience
- Management experience preferred
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work efficiently with limited supervision
- Strong Computer & Phone Skills
- Experience with automotive software preferred
- Professional appearance and work ethic
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work within a fast-paced environment
- Current, valid driver's license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
- Able to pass a pre-employment background check and a drug test for illegal substances
