What's the role about?
The Head of Compliance ANZ is responsible for the implementation, management and oversight of the Australia and New Zealand to ensure that the Australian and New Zealand businesses comply with all local regulatory requirements and Assurant Corporate Compliance programs.
- Work with the Head of Compliance APAC in managing effective relationships with regulators such as APRA, ASIC, RBNZ, FMA & ACCC.
- Manage effective relationships with industry bodies such as the ICA and manage effective relationships with institutions such as AFCA and IFSO.
- Manage the VSC ANZ Branch’s compliance program and provide adequate oversight of the implementation of the compliance processes and protocols.
- Provide assistance to senior management and other key stakeholders as required in relation to compliance matters, ensuring the business is acting in accordance with the relevant financial services laws, and the AFSL / RBNZ conditions, and CoFI requirements.
- Provide input into strategy, the business plan, the budget and financial condition report to help ensure that material decision making is compliance based and is consistent with Assurant’s Compliance Program expectations and Corporate Values.
- Develop the ANZ Branch Compliance Manual(s) and ensure that it is updated to meet regulatory and licence conditions changes as required.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a 2nd line ANZ Assurance plan covering all business lines.
- Ensure local adoption and oversight of the Assurant Corporate Compliance program including trade sanctions and anti-bribery and corruption protocols.
- Engage with Corporate Compliance on the implementation of trade compliance controls for ANZ market including implementing controls and risk management efforts for Supply Chain, Asset Disposition, and other key vendor groups.
- Perform due diligence and ongoing oversight for vendors, buyers & aggregators and other third parties connected with the ANZ business
- Manage the internal and dispute resolution process for ANZ.
- Monitor the business’ compliance culture and assist senior management in the implementation of the businesses compliance policy, protocols and relevant professional bodies, regulatory bodies and legislative standards.
- Manage and maintain the compliance obligations and issues and incidents registers. Inform the Head of Compliance APAC promptly of the existence of any significant matter actual or potential breach affecting the Branch.
Does this sound like you?
- Degree qualified in business, Finance, Commerce or relevant discipline
- 7+ years’ Experience in a Compliance Officer or Manager role or other comparable experienced professional
- Experience within a niche or composite insurance company, bank or professional services firm
- Membership of professional body such as the GRC Institute for compliance professionals or other such body.
- At least 7 years’ experience with APRA and ASIC frameworks
- Previous experience at a management level in a Financial / Insurance or Professional Services organization
- Australian and Asian Pacific insurance, retail and consumer markets
- Ideally creditor, warranty and additional insurance financial or operational experience
- Strong technical expertise, interpersonal skills and credibility at a senior level
- Gravitas and style can command respect of the business
