Position Overview :
We are seeking a skilled Mechanic A to join our dedicated maintenance team. This is a high-level mechanic position focused on the maintenance and overhaul of diesel, gasoline, and alternative fuel motorized equipment, including transit buses.
Key Responsibilities :
- Perform complex electrical troubleshooting and repairs on motorized equipment.
- Overhaul and maintain diesel, gasoline, and CNG motor coaches and buses.
- Tune engines for optimal performance using diagnostic tools.
- Troubleshoot and repair air conditioning and braking systems.
- Start and inspect buses daily to ensure they are ready for service.
- Provide guidance and training to less experienced mechanics.
Qualifications :
- Minimum of 5 years in transportation fleet maintenance. Experience with buses, trucks, or heavy-duty vehicles is ideal.
- Knowledge of fleet mechanical repair shop operations and preventive maintenance practices.
- Valid Class C California driver’s license (ability to obtain Class B ).
- Certifications required : T.I.A Commercial Tire Certification, Forklift Operation, CNG Tank Inspection, Air Brake, ASE Master Transit Bus Technician, and Type II or higher Refrigeration Technician.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair complex systems.
Physical Requirements :
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Comfort working in a variety of environments, including exposure to noise and mechanical hazards.
Working Conditions :
- Full-time shifts; flexibility required for evening and weekend work due to operational needs.
- Union shop with competitive pay set at $40.30 per hour, with no negotiation possible.
