Level Descriptions :

Level 1 Must be able to achieve many objectives of this position. Requires some amount of timely supervision to ensure the proper tasks are being accomplished and that communication is adequate, timely, in the correct manner (i.

e. verbal, written, email, etc.)

  • Level 2 - Consistently achieves all of the objectives of this position. This individual also provides mentoring and direct day-to-day supervision to level I positions.
  • Senior - Highly experienced in the position. Has advanced skills at laying out and managing others. Has a good understanding of the hardware associated with Fire Alarm Systems and Security & Life Safety system equipment.

Understands basic theory behind building systems operations and can assist in troubleshooting both installation and operation.

Job Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Interpret Climatec’s and other’s drawings to productively install Life Safety Systems, Fire Alarms and Security. Install conduit and wire for Life Safety Systems, Fire Alarms and Security.
  • Accurately terminate low voltage wiring for Life Safety Systems, Fire Alarms and Security.
  • Support installation personnel on project sites.
  • Provide information and support for other contractors on project site.
  • Assist as required troubleshooting efforts during either the start up or commissioning of building Life Safety Systems, Fire Alarms and Security systems.
  • Provide support to Climatec and other contractors to solve building operating issues that go beyond the Life Safety Systems, Fire Alarms and Security system operations.
  • Provide input to others as requested or required to assist in the accurate estimation, design, and installation for building systems.
  • Provide documentation including daily reports, etc. as required for assigned projects.
  • Assist in preparing of As-built drawings and Operation & Maintenance Manuals.
  • Understand complete scope of work and schedule of values for billing.
  • Define changes in scope for Superintendent and System Sales Representative to create change orders.
  • Submit timesheets daily with at most accuracy.
  • Effectively communicate all relevant project information to supervisors.
  • Present safety meetings and adhere to company safety procedures.
  • Ensures team works safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, damage to property, loss of unused materials, and cleans up all installation debris.
  • Maintains a professional manner to enhance the company’s image with customers.
  • Completion of daily reports.
  • Oversee material packing slips, equipment termination numbers, equipment storage and large equipment.
  • Maintain all necessary job files and records.
  • Draft Requests for information and draft Requests for material / equipment
  • Report all team member accidents and incidents.
  • Evaluate system performance and effectiveness to maintain and minimize equipment malfunctions.
  • Apply knowledge of all tools and equipment according to established procedures.
  • Continually seek opportunities to increase knowledge, customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
  • Level 2 and Senior Field Installers inspect work done by other Climatec employees or subcontractors to ensure all our work is per code and meets acceptable levels of craftsmanship.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications :

Basic Qualifications :

  • Minimum of high school diploma.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Life Safety Systems & Fire Alarms and low voltage installations
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of fire alarm parts / material is required
  • Understanding of basic computer operation and proficiency in using email for communication and coordination
  • A clear ability to work with electrical equipment such as volt meters, amp meters, etc.
  • The ability to troubleshoot basic electric circuitry including reading and interpreting Fire Alarm design and special system diagram and advanced blueprint reading.
  • An understanding of the construction industry including safety, Fire Alarm codes, etc.
  • Clear and concise ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • An ability to understand empathetically the issues and perceptions others have and to creatively and successfully work through these issues to achieve a successful outcome and customer and employee satisfaction.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • 5 years of experience in Life Safety Systems & Fire Alarms and low voltage installations
  • Advanced knowledge of fire alarm parts / material is required
  • In-depth understanding of troubleshooting and interpreting complex special Fire Alarm system diagrams.
  • Strong familiarity with the construction industry, particularly in regards to safety and Fire Alarm codes.
  • Blue Card Holder
  • NICET Certification Holder

Essential Job Functions :

  • Be able to lift and carry ladders, drawings, personal computers, material, etc.
  • Be able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Be able to spend significant time standing and walking on construction sites.
  • Be able to climb several flights of stairs or ladders throughout a typical day on a construction site.
  • Maintain a satisfactory driving record which, per Climatec’s vehicle policy, allows the individual to drive on company business.
  • Be physically able to kneel, stoop and crawl.
