Human Resources Specialist

We are seeking a dynamic and results driven Human Resources Specialist to join us and support the HR team at Cobble Hill Health Center.
Cobble Hill Health Center is a not-for-profit long-and short-term care facility providing services to the disabled and elderly for over 40 years.
The HR Specialist will play a key role in helping us to achieve our vision : to consistently exceed expectations and set the standard for excellence in residential and community care.
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, this position will have responsibility for providing administrative and project support to the HR department as well as the organization.
You will also perform duties at the processional level to include benefits coordination, leave of absence administration, HRIS updates, employee relations, and other administrative projects.
Key Tasks Include :
- Under the guidance of the HR Manager, assists in employee and labor relations
- Partners with Department Leaders to manage and track employee life cycle
- Counsels department managers on employee disciplinary actions and follows union guidelines when applicable
- Manages employee performance management and ensures efficiency
- Manages tracking, updates and processes around benefits, leaves, worker's comp, OSHA filings and other Leave of Absence requirements
- Maintains and coordinates employee engagement and recognition programs
- Manages data integrity, complies with regulatory reporting, analyzes trends and data as needed
- Provides customer service for employee inquiries
- Audit and maintains employee records and documentation
- Facilitates and documents employee relations investigation process
- Assist the Head of HR with training and strategies for the betterment of the facility
- Support the Head of HR in large change initiatives and program development
- Additional duties as assigned
What We're Looking For :
- 2-4 years of HR experience in a professional or healthcare setting. Experience as an HR Generalist a plus.
- College Degree in a related field strongly desired; Professional Certifications a plus
- Working knowledge of multiple HR disciplines including, but not limited to : compensation, employee relations, performance management, federal and state employment laws
- Prior experience managing leave of absences (FMLA, PFL, Worker's Comp)
- Capabilities and interest in technology / innovative people solutions
- Strong sense of urgency and ability to multitask and prioritize issues
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to build and maintain strong relationships with all levels of staff
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and deadlines
- Strong teamwork orientation; willingness to help the larger team meet goals and responsibilities
- Demonstrated interest in and capability to take on more strategic responsibilities
- Comfort engaging and working with leadership
- Ability to work autonomously and "own" your stuff - but also know when to ask for support and guidance
