At PetPlace, an IPH company, we are building a digital first pet e-commerce platform with the aim of connecting key market services such as adoption, lost pet and insurance to make pet care easy.

Job Summary

As the Vice President of Product at PetPlace, you will guide and develop our newly created product function, focusing on execution, innovation, strategy, and speed.

You will own our product's full scope, including our web account experience via PetPlace, B2B shelter management product, membership & subscription offering and newly launched consumer adoption platform.

Your role will be high-impact and involve close collaboration across all departments. You will collaborate with the President and other team members to refine the product vision and elevate, define, and execute the strategy to bring it to life.

As a product leader and manager, your mission will be to coach and motivate our product team to foster an innovative and growth-driven culture that can quickly deliver high-quality and reliable product experiences for our current and future members.

The bar for this role is high we’re focused on becoming a market-leading, product-led growth company. We’re building a consumer business in one of the most competitive markets in the world with over 3.

6m new pet parents reaching our platform every year and the potential to drive 10x growth. We aim to provide design quality like Airbnb, product experiences like Amazon Prime & Pinterest, and pet offerings like Chewy all while prioritizing a member-first perspective, helping them find & connect with services that make a world with pets easy.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Vision

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive product strategy that aligns with the company's goals and vision. Identify market opportunities, define product roadmaps, and prioritize features to ensure successful product launches.
  • Drives annual revenues, through prospect & lead generation and PetPlace members growth.

Leadership & Team Management

Lead, mentor, and inspire a cross-functional product team, (including product managers, designers, and potentially engineers).

Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Product Development

  • Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from ideation to launch and beyond. Ensure timely delivery of high-quality products that meet customer requirements and business objectives.
  • Scope and prioritize activities based on business impact
  • Translate product strategy into detailed requirements
  • Focus on UX / UI by leading the design and user interface efforts
  • Ensure that product are intuitive and visually appealing and provide a seamless user journey, resulting in customer satisfaction

Stakeholder Engagement

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including executive leadership, sales, marketing, and internal and external customers, to gather feedback, align on priorities, and drive product adoption.

Market Research & Analysis

Conduct thorough market research and competitive analysis to understand industry trends, customer needs, and emerging technologies.

Use insights to inform product development and positioning of product initiatives.

  • Establishes key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track product performance, customer satisfaction, and market success.
  • Leverage data and insights to drive experience, innovation and identify product gaps with recommendations on approach to solving those product gaps.

Financial Acumen

Manage product budgets, pricing strategies, and ROI analysis to ensure financial success and sustainability

Regulatory Compliance

Ensure all products comply with relevant industry regulations and standards, particularly in the fintech and insurance sectors.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Proven track record of successfully launching new products from concept to market.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive organizational change.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to make data-driven decisions and perform market and competitive analysis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively convey complex concepts to diverse audiences, including executive leadership and customers.
  • Solid technical background with understanding and / or hands-on experience in insurance / pet services products distributed digitally.
  • Familiarity with UX / UI design principles
  • Strong understanding of the animal industry including veterinary practices, pet care and related sectors.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of product management experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong background in launching new products, preferably within the fintech or insurance industries.
  • Strong understanding of the fintech or insurance industry. Experience with software products is essential.
