POSITION SUMMARY :
This position is responsible for the timely and accurate distribution of incoming and outgoing U.S. mail and campus mail, including UPS, DHL, and FedEx, daily.
The mail handler reports to the Facilities Manager. This position is in Waterbury, CT, and is not a remote opportunity.
Essential Accountabilities :
- Pick-up mail at Waterbury post office in the AM.
- Receive and sort incoming mail using mail sorting software, interdepartmental mail, notices, and memorandums, and process outgoing mail and campus mail once a day.
- Sort mail according to the appropriate destination and distribute it to all campus departments / buildings ; sort and weigh all outgoing mail daily.
- Student mail will be sorted and inserted in the appropriate mailbox. In addition, assist students with any mailing requests.
- Responsible for 3 reports : monthly letter postage by department, monthly package postage by department, and business reply reports.
- Daily bank deposit for Office of Student Finance department, Campus Store, and Athletics. Record all Post University inventory, such as envelopes and letterhead, and deliver when requested.
- Will operate postage meter and shipping software.
- Provides general clerical support such as filing, phone coverage, and data entry for the Facilities Office.
- Serves as backup Shuttle bus / Transportation Driver as needed
- This position requires a flexible schedule and some evening and weekend hours to meet the operational needs of the Facilities Department.
- Completes other assignments as deemed appropriate by the Supervisor
- Comply with health and safety directives, including using and / or wearing protective materials.
- Operate equipment according to prescribed safety procedures.
- Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately.

Qualifications :
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid CT Driver's License with A-Endorsement and a clean driving record approved by the University's Insurance Carrier.
- Ability to use hand tools, including electronic equipment, and operate motorized equipment and vehicles such as cars, trucks or vans.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Office
- The employee must frequently climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to multi-task and provide exemplary customer service, a professional demeanor, and a positive attitude.
- Caring attitude, hard-working, energetic, and comfortable in a busy and physical work environment.
