Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducts regular basket checks; inspects and grades all fillet and mince product, in accordance with ASC Product Specifications
- Measure, evaluate, and record quality criteria as defined in ASC Product Specifications.
- Inspects frozen product, and records criteria such as temperature, product condition, weight, packaging condition, and labeling as per ASC Product Specifications
- Works with Baader Technicians and Foremen to ensure that fillet machine adjustments, and cleanings, are conducted as needed
- Maintains vessel HACCP Plan and Sanitation Plan as per State and Federal Regulatory Requirements
- Ensures factory conformance with Food Safety standards and Good Manufacturing Practices
- Conducts, and maintains, records for chlorine testing of marine and freshwater
- Prepares and submits product samples as requested by Factory Manager or the Quality Assurance Department at the conclusion of each trip
- Completes tallying duties at off-load to ensure accurate accounting of discharged product
- All information will be reported to Factory Manager and the Quality Assurance Department, as requested
Skill and Experience Required
- Must possess a thorough working knowledge of factory trawl operations, and at-sea fillet production
- Must demonstrate a minimum of two years factory trawler experience
- Must possess the ability to instruct and motivate personnel
- Knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook required
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing
- Experience with food handling desired
- HACCP certification is preferred
Physical Ability
- Ability to pass a pre-employment and random drug tests
- Must be capable of boarding and exiting a vessel without physical assistance by climbing up and down a gang plank or using a Jacob's ladder
- Must climb or descend one or more set of steep stairs, or vertical ladders inside and outside the vessel in all weather conditions as extreme as 30 degrees below zero
- Ability to repetitively lift boxes up to 55 lbs. for long periods of time
- Must be 18 years or older
Work Schedule
12 hours or more per day for the duration of the trip, including loading and unloading
Ability to work at sea for extended periods of time
Pay : Estimated $4,000 - $5,500 per trip before taxes (average is 2 trips per month)
