About The Position
- Job Title : Registered Nurse - OncologyJob Specialty : OncologyJob Duration : 26 weeks (Preferred but not required)Shift : 7A-7P, 12-hour day shiftGuaranteed Hours : 36 hours per weekExperience : - RN : Minimum 1 year preferred- CNA : Minimum 1 year (Previous hospital experience within the last year requires manager approval)- First-time traveler acceptedLicense : Registered NurseCertifications : - RN : Basic Life Support (BLS), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) preferred, Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemo certification preferred, EKG interpretation preferred- CNA : BLSMust-Have : - No more than 6 days request for time off (RTO);
- no holidays for RTO accepted- Charge experience highly preferredJob Description : - Work on either of two similar care units- Patients : Various medical diagnoses except cardiac- Common diagnoses : Stroke, COPD, respiratory issues, GI bleed, renal failure, oncology, electrolyte imbalance, altered mental status, weakness, non-operable fractures- Patient load : RN days 1 : 4-5;
RN nights 1 : 5-6; CNA days 1 : 8; CNA nights 1 : 10- Skills : Trach care, chest tube management, wound care, IVABX, drain / tube management, IV starts, central line management, insulin gtts, heparin gtts- Support : Charge nurse, CNA, phlebotomy for peripheral blood draws, 24 / 7 house supervisor, respiratory therapist, hospitalist, daytime PT / OT / ST, unit resource RN (days)- Charting System : Cerner- Equipment : Alaris, Pyxis- Floating : Yes, to similar care med-surg units- Orientation : 2 days hospital orientation, 1 shift on the unit- Scheduling : Every other weekend rotation, no on-call requirement- Attire : Professional scrubs, any color
