Position Overview :

As a Retail Department Manager you will be responsible for overseeing department operations within the retail setting of a grocery store.

You will be responsible for ensuring quality and freshness of all department products while providing excellent customer service.

You will be driving labor efficiency, sales and gross profit margins in alignment with the store. Department options include, Deli, Produce, Grocery, Meat, Dairy / Frozen, Seafood, and Front End / Customer Service.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Builds and maintains customer satisfaction with the product and services offered by the company.
  • Maintain a happy, full, fresh and clean department
  • Maintain sales floor, preparation, equipment and storage areas that are clean, orderly and meeting company and health department standards at all times
  • Train and supervise department staff ensuring adherence to established procedures and customer service standards
  • Conducting regular safety training for department staff
  • Schedule and coordinate shifts to have proper coverage
  • Provide ongoing feedback, performance evaluations and training opportunities for all department employees
  • Monitor inventory levels, ordering products such as but not limited to various products to maintain a diverse and stocked selection
  • Ensure that all products meet quality and safety standards
  • Ensure that all products are rotated properly utilizing first in first out method
  • Handle customer inquiries, concerns and special requests in a prompt and professional manner
  • Oversee the cleaning and maintenance of all department equipment, storage, and sales floor areas
  • Communicate with store management regarding inventory, sales and any issues within the department
  • Implement and execute best practices to minimize profit losses and maximize overall store profit
  • Coach teammates in need of performance improvement within the department.
  • Recommend and assist with growth development of consistent high performing teammates.
  • Adhere to all company safety standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

Schedule :

Weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.

Experience :

  • Preferred : One (1) year retail management or sales experience
  • Preferred : ServeSafe certification or comparable

Skills :

  • Physical abilities : May be required to lift up to 80-85lbs.; standing, bending, lifting and twisting for up to 90% of your shift;
  • frequently lifting product from various heights including floor level to over your head; Ability to stand or walk at least 10 hours daily;

working in various temperature controlled environments; walking on a variety of flooring such as concrete, tile, carpet etc

  • Strong communication Skills : Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers and leaders on a daily basis
  • Organizational Skills : Ability to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Working in a team based environment : Working independently and as a team player to ensure our customers are receiving orders timely and with the highest quality
  • Quality : Maintain integrity and high standards of product handling from all perspectives
  • Safety Culture : Maintain and drive safety policies; driving for accountability of safe practices throughout shift
