About The Position
Job Title : Central Sterile Technician Certified Job Specialty : Pediatric Sterile Processing Job Duration : 13 months Shift : 8 Hrs 5x8 Hr Guaranteed Hours : 40.
00 per week Experience : Minimum of six months related experience License : Technician certification required Certifications : Certification from either the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) Must-Have : Knowledge of maintenance and sterilization of medical supplies and equipment Job Description : Responsible for cleaning, decontamination, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation and reusable supply items.
- Coordinates and prepares necessary supplies and instruments for emergent and routine surgical cases.- Assembles and wraps instrument sets.
- Ensures proper use of sterilized sonic cleaners and related equipment.- Retrieves and delivers surgical instruments in a timely manner.
- Thoroughly inspects instruments to ensure cleanliness and good repair / working order before sterilization.- Decontaminates instruments using proper chemical mixtures and procedures.
- Tests, operates, and loads autoclaves.- Participates in routine cleaning and decontamination of all department work surfaces.
- Completes sterilization log sheets.- Periodically checks sterile inventory to remove expired or compromised items and re-sterilizes them.
- Identifies and notifies appropriate personnel of inventory or supply shortages.- May assist in training new staff.- Prepares and maintains accurate Case Carts.
- Pulls needed supplies and instruments for cases.- Coordinates with operating room staff to ensure proper supplies for each case are delivered as needed.
- Maintains optimal levels of patient care surgical supplies and / or equipment.- Practices good inventory control techniques following FIFO (first in, first out).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
