DESCRIPTION :
The primary function of a Systems Project Engineer is to assist the Project Manager in organizing, controlling, scheduling, monitoring, and recording all activities which are part of the construction management of a project.
Demonstrate understanding of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the construction field. This position reports directly to the Project Manager, Superintendent, and all other assigned supervisors.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Assist Purple Line Extension Section 2 & Section 3 project with management of Systems elements including Traction Power, Communications, or Train Control
- Assist the Systems Project team with management of specialty subcontractors.
- Assist with the preparation of submittals, shop drawings, and installation of system elements pre-construction and during construction.
- Assist with the test program plan for system elements including the review of test procedures, factory tests, field tests.
- Assist construction to ensure project is built on schedule and within budget.
- Manage RFI Process and procedures.
- Ensure project files are being updated and maintained.
- Represent company in project meetings, assist in labor negotiations / strategy meetings, etc.
- Assume additional responsibilities as directed by corporate executives.
REQUIREMENTS :
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or related field is required;
- Minimum five (5) years of experience working with an Electrical or Systems Contractor.
- Previous experience with Traction Power, Communications systems or Train Control systems a plus
- Must understand fundamentals of contracting and have familiarity with large scale mass transit / transportation projects.
- Must be organized with the ability to manage a system or discipline.
- Must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
- Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities is vital.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills such as tact, diplomacy, influence, etc. are essential.
- Must be a business-oriented person.
Expected salary range for this position is $120,000 - $130,000 depending on experience.
