Frolic Pet Services is currently hiring for our part-time Pet Sitter & Office Assistant position !

We are a growing locally-owned professional pet care company providing a variety of pet care related services to clients in the Puget Sound region since 2008.

A quick overview of this position :

We are currently seeking applications for part-time Pet Sitters & Office Assistants at our Des Moines office! Anyone with office, scheduling, or administrative experience who also enjoys daily interaction with dogs, cats, and other pets is encouraged to apply!

The Pet Sitter & Office Assistant role combines assisting our admin team in office setting and providing client services, such as dog walking and pet sitting, in the field.

If you get bored easily or prefer a workday with variety, this may be the job for you! This position is incredibly varied and requires excellent attention to detail, as we work with pets that have a variety of care needs.

Experience in a professional pet care role is preferred, but not required. All candidates must truly love caring for pets and be willing and able to be trained to handle dogs of different sizes, breeds, and behaviors.

Our pet services are offered 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and our normal office operation hours are 6 : 45am-7pm. We are currently primarily seeking applicants with availability on Saturdays and early mornings.

However, as this role is flexible, a variety of schedules may be available to best suit your availability and strengths.

A little about us :

Frolic Pet Services is a locally-owned, full-service pet care company. We do it all; dog walking, pet sitting, in-home overnight care, pet transportation services, dog training, as well as private boarding and daycare at our office, just to name a few! Our team of pet-loving employees (NOT independent contractors) are thoroughly educated and consistently trained so that they, and our clients' pets, are ensured a professional level of care and safety.

Most of our team members have been with us for many years. We are always interested in hearing from applicants interested in long-term pet care careers in our office or out in their local neighborhoods.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Office Team with projects, daily operations, client profile management, scheduling, and last minute or emergency requests as needed.
  • Operate online scheduling software for clients and staff.
  • Communicate with the Frolic Team and clients via phone, email, online chat and in person, and provide daily updates & cute pet photos to clients via app.
  • Provide dog walking and pet sitting services at clients' homes including cleaning, feeding, walking, playing, petting, brushing, pet waste clean-up, light housekeeping, medication administration, etc.
  • Be able to keep an attentive eye out for potential issues or problems; provide overall quality care in relation to health and safety of all the pets you work with.
  • Assist in the management and care of dogs and our doggy daycare facility. This includes daily cleaning and preparation duties, check-in and out, feeding, playtime rotation and other duties assigned.
  • Be available to act as emergency backup to other team members during working hours in case of last-minute schedule changes or call-outs.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must be an animal lover who wants to work in the pet care field!
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of experience working in customer service, office environments, and / or in pet services strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and exclusive access to a reliable & insured vehicle required.
  • Reliable smartphone with data package, messaging, GPS, email, phone, and camera required. (Good battery life or an external battery charger is recommended.)
  • Strong technology skills (computer, administrative software, email, phone applications, etc.) required.
  • For the safety of our clients, we require full & up-to-date vaccination against COVID-19 as recommended by the CDC.
  • Able to consistently and repetitively walk, kneel, squat, bend, lift, push, pull, grasp, and balance while walking / caring for pets.
  • Able to lift 60lbs+ from ground to table (for example : lifting a dog from ground into a car) when necessary.
  • Be willing and able to work outside in all seasons / weather / temperatures. *We do provide most necessary gear!
  • Possess a high level of patience, calm demeanor, and problem-solving attitude. Things can occasionally go not-quite-as-expected when dealing with pets, so a cool head is a must!
  • Prepared to handle the occasional stressful or gross turn of events inherent in this field with grace.
  • Have an extreme attention to detail regarding written instructions and pet health. We have a responsibility to keep the pets and clients that depend on us safe and happy by following directions.
  • Articulate, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to stay on task with little or no supervision.
  • Friendly and outgoing personality, able to work as a team and interact with clients and co-workers in a consistently professional manner.
  • Feel comfortable asking for assistance or clarification when facing any issues or uncertainty.
  • Confident, direct, honest, & respectful in communicating about needs, concerns, and other issues.

Compensation

  • $19.97 to $22 / hr starting, depending on qualifications and experience.
  • 60% of what we bill the client when providing "Stand Alone" services; individual client service appointments that that take place outside of regular consecutively scheduled hours.

Team members with full time positions are eligible for medical & other benefits after a standard waiting period.

Depending on your availability, location, skill level, and qualifications, additional positions and promotion opportunities can become available!

Schedules Available

We are currently prioritizing candidates with Saturday and early morning availability.

This listing is for a Part-Time position. Full-Time hours for this role may become available in the future.

Our typical office & daycare hours are 6 : 45am-7pm, and we offer pet services at clients homes most hours of the day. Morning, afternoon, and evening shifts may be available.

This position is flexible and typically involves splitting your day between work at the Frolic office / daycare and providing pet services in the field.
