JOB TITLE : PRESS BRAKE APPRENTICE - 2nd Shift (3 : 00pm - 1 : 30am)

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY : Assist in forming sheet metal parts under close supervision while developing the skills necessary to operate a press brake safely and efficiently. The apprentice will learn to produce high-quality components that meet B&J standards while emphasizing teamwork, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction.

This position will be a temp to perm position. Temp for up to 90 days. If successful in apprentice role, goal would be to promote ideal candidate to full time regular position as a Press Brake Operator I.

    • CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES :

    Essential

  • Assist experienced operators with press brake set-up and operation
  • Learn to place metal stock in the machine and bend to specification
  • Observe and practice proper safety procedures
  • Perform basic part checks under supervision to ensure accuracy
  • Help prepare parts for the next operation
  • Maintain proper documentation as directed by lead or supervisor
  • Ask questions and actively seek to improve knowledge and skills
  • Notify lead or supervisor of any material or machine issues observed
  • Participate in Lean activities and on-the-job training

  • Keep tooling and work area neat and organized
  • Perform daily maintenance
  • Maintain work area in a clean and organized manner
  • All other duties as assigned

    WORKS WITH : B&J Team Members

    SAFETY REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION :

    Follow all OSHA safety regulations and those set by B&J Industries

    REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION :

    Essential

  • Strong willingness to learn and follow directions
  • Good math skills : ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to read and understand basic shop drawings (training provided)
  • Manual dexterity and attention to detail
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality

    • Beneficial

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous experience in a shop, trade, or vocational program
  • Interest in sheet metal or manufacturing careers

    • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION :

    Sit 25%, Stand 25%, Walk 15%, Bend 8%, Squat 8%, Lift 10%, Twist 4%, Kneel 1%, Reach Above Shoulder 1%, Climb 1%, Drive 1%, Push / Pull 1%.

    Maximum (minutes) : Sit 90, Stand 90, Walk 15, Bend 30, Squat 30, Lift 30, Twist 20, Kneel 5, Reach Above Shoulder 15, Climb 5, Drive 5, Push / Pull 15.

    Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis. Must have normal vision (with or without corrective lenses) and hearing (with or without corrective hearing aids).

    Working Environment : Shop environment. Moderate noise level. Exposure to dust, heat and cold.

    This position will require drug testing per company policy.

    Mon - Thursday 3 : 00pm - 1 : 30am
