WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
The Media Specialist is a junior-level position that helps facilitate the skills and learning required to become a Media Planner / Buyer.
The Media Specialist assists with the planning and implementation of paid advertising in print, digital, paid search, out-of-home, Broadcast TV, Cable TV, radio, and social media outlets.
They work hand-in-hand with the media planner / buyers as well as key members of the account and project management teams to ensure campaigns are executed correctly.
Media Specialists possess an understanding of paid media channels (e.g., social media, search, display) and may have a specialized skill set in one or more areas.
WHAT OUR MEDIA SPECIALIST WILL DO ONCE THEY'RE HERE
- Contribute to the development and refinement of media strategies and planning decisions.
- Lead execution of media campaign scheduling, setup, and monitoring of advertising placements.
- Work closely with agency teams to ensure timely delivery of ad creatives and assets for campaign implementation.
- Communicate with media vendors to coordinate campaign details, resolve issues, and secure necessary documentation.
- Able to represent the interests of the agency with media vendors and may also be asked to negotiate and secure optimal placements.
- Develop and send insertion orders (IOs) to media outlets.
- Manage and update media calendars and IOs throughout campaign.
- Gathers specs and deadlines to build and maintain media materials documents.
- Generate tracking links, create tags, and traffic / monitor digital media buys in Campaign Manager.
- Traffic creative assets and instructions between agencies, publishers, and digital vendors.
- Set up campaigns in Google Ads and other platforms.
- Monitor and track campaign budgets; assist with optimizing ad placements and managing bids.
- Work closely with accounting department on billing and invoice reconciliation.
- Compile and organize campaign performance data for analysis.
- Assist in preparing regular reports on key performance indicators.
- Develop, update, and maintain vendor contact lists and collect media kits.
- Support senior team members with any media planning, buying, research, or presentation requests as needed.
- Other relevant duties as assigned.
WHAT OUR MEDIA SPECIALIST WILL NEED TO SUCCEED
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 1-2 years of work experience in paid media
- Strong Microsoft Office skills : Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Knowledge of Google Campaign Manager and media buying platforms (e.g., Strata / FreeWheel) is a plus
- Experience with Google Analytics is a plus
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work across functions and departments with regular interaction with colleagues and external contacts
- Ability to work independently
- Strong organizational skills
- Detail-oriented
