Rockwood Insurance, a division of Argo Group, is the leading underwriter of voluntary workers' comp insurance for the coal mining industry in Pennsylvania and licensed to write business in 49 states.

Rockwood currently has a challenging opportunity for a Claims Adjuster Trainee in our office located in Rockwood, PA.

SCOPE OF WORK

  • Investigates Workers' Compensation claims, including claims in litigation.
  • Communication with claimants, insured and treatment providers to obtain information for claim handling.
  • Coverage Analysis.
  • File documentation and diary management.
  • Claim entry and claim transactions.
  • Agent communication.
  • Reviews and assesses medical records.
  • Assists and manages defense counsel for claims in litigation, mediation and hearings and attends as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE

  • Manage assignments to assure results are accurate and completed on schedule.
  • Be adaptable to changes in assignments, policy and procedures, and platforms.
  • Maintain a high level of quality work product.
  • Goal Oriented.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization.
  • Accuracy and knowledge of policy and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently or with little supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task.

SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

  • Excellent phone etiquette along with strong oral and written communicative skills.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office Suite) and business correspondence skills a must.
  • A high school diploma required, and BA / BS preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience with Workers' Compensation claim handling.
