About the Position

The F414 -39E Model Engineer will have purview over technical and program execution of the F414-39E for the single engine Saab Gripen.

As Model Engineer, you will be the prime program technical point of contact with responsibility for requirements flowdown and overall program execution.

In this role, you will coordinate program execution by working with Engineering, Project and the technical teams from the external customers including both Saab and GKN.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

Conducts component and product integration. All activities that span multiple components and products and are concerned with how to integrate for maximum performance and operability.

Manages product and systems requirements, specifications and flow down. Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product / system, including system level testing.

Responsible for defining product requirements for the module / component / subcontractors and partners teams. Manages interface between components and execution organizations.

Responsible for driving CTQ / Risk trades within the teams designing the components. Manages the overall product configuration and configuration control system.

Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and / or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline; Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others;

Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational / product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering.

Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations.

Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.

May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus.

Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field. Lead and energize the team members

  • Recommend the approach to meet the technical and program requirement; Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments ;
  • Develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems; Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical requirements, schedules and contract commitments;
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Provide technical guidance to other personnel and assigned teams;

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in relevant engineering roles.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a program or project leadership role within an engineering environment.

Desired Characteristics

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • 10+ years of combined experience in relevant engineering and engineering leadership roles in the aerospace industry, including mechanical, aerospace, systems integration, test or qualification.
  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems, such as CAD, FEA, GD&T, MBSE, Microsoft Suite.
  • Experience leading large, cross-functional, and horizontal teams, with a sense of urgency while promoting a collaborative and inclusive culture.
  • Knowledge of the NPI process, military proposal process, and engine configuration management.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems, lead programs, and execute projects.
  • Strong influencing skills with a track record as a change agent.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
