Uptown Animal Hospital is a growing GP / Urgent Care hybrid facility in the beautiful city of Gig Harbor, just West of Tacoma.
Our team is a compassionate group of veterinary professionals including both Urgent Care and GP veterinarians, LVTs, assistants and customer service representatives who have helped develop our newly built hospital into a fully functioning, client-centric staple in our community.

Many of our team members are fear-free certified at the cost of the hospital. We also cover the cost of med clerk licenses for those handling and filling medications.

Triage - both in person and over the phone WOW service - we treat our human and animal patients like family All aspects of nursing care - we need a highly capable and knowledgeable team member who is able to perform all expected technical duties required of an experienced skilled assistant or licensed veterinary technician, who also enjoys demonstrating and teaching new techniques to other employees.
Client education - our techs and assistants are largely responsible for educating our clients at intake and discharge. Extensive knowledge of commonly used pharmaceuticals, medical conditions, nursing care instructions and the ability to learn and retain new information as directed by the veterinarians on staff is a requirement of this position.
Education : *
High School Diploma or GED required.
LVT preferred (current license in Washington State) for LVT position. We will also consider a candidate with an exceptionally strong assistant skillset, especially those with 3-5+ years of ER or critical care experience.
For our general practice, we are also seeking LVTs / assistants with 2-4+ years of experience. Salary will be dependent on experience and credentials.
Essential Job Functions : *
Demonstrate technical skills including (but not limited to) :
a. Venipuncture.
b. Managing patients in all phases of anesthetic procedures.
c. Appropriate handling of sample collection, as well as using and maintaining laboratory equipment.
d. Safely and effectively obtaining diagnostic radiographic images. This includes wearing gloves, aprons, rad badge and thyroid shields will be worn at all times.
e. Administration of medications, fluids, and blood products. In all routs SQ, IM and IV
f. Knowledge of animal handling / restraint. Must demonstrate safe handling at all times.
g. Wound and bandage management, placement and care. h. Knowledge of pre-operative surgical procedures and circulating duties.

i. All aspects of patient care, with particular regard to emergency and critical care patients.
j. Appropriate sterilization techniques.

- Create and maintain client / patient records.
- Maintain appropriate facility records and logs in compliance with regulatory guidelines and company policies.
- Deliver client education. Respect and protect the confidentiality of client and patient information.
- Provide critical care nursing for both hospitalized patients and out-patient treatments under supervision and direction of Veterinarian.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills. Interact professionally with clients and fellow staff members.
- Must be a team player and be able to interact professionally with members of medical treatment team.
- Handle emergency situations efficiently and calmly.
- Be able to talk to owners about treatment plans and answer questions with confidence.
- Participate in regular team meetings
- Ensure proper care of strays (cleaning, walking, pain control, feeding, coordinating with Health Care Team regarding transfers to shelters, etc.)
- Provide updates to clients regarding the status of their pets.
- Participate in rounds to ensure continuity of care for patients.
- Ensure cleanliness of facility including cleaning kennels, laundry, mopping and cleaning of hospital (lobby, exam rooms, treatment areas, etc).
- Dental procedures including radiology, for LVTs; experience with extractions preferred.
- Other tasks, procedures, and skills will be taught or requested under direction of supervisor and management.
