NAVFAC Information Technology Center (NITC) is seeking an innovative and results-driven Data Scientist with a strong background in data science, Python, SQL, and PySpark programming.

The ideal candidate should have strong problem-solving skills, a collaborative mindset, and a desire to drive our organization towards industry standards.

This position is located in downtown San Diego, CA.

Responsibilities :

  • Data Analysis and Interpretation : Analyze large datasets using statistical techniques to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform strategic decisions and enhance business operations.
  • Sustain Data Pipelines : Use data science techniques to monitor and enhance data quality, integrity, and security throughout the entire data lifecycle.
  • Machine Learning and AI Implementation : Develop, deploy, and optimize machine learning models and artificial intelligence systems using industry standards.
  • Continuous Learning and Improvement : Continuously research and integrate cutting-edge data science methodologies, algorithms, and technologies.

Adapt and implement best practices to maintain a competitive edge in data science and AI.

  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams : Work closely with data engineers, analysts, and other stakeholders to identify data needs and provide actionable insights.
  • Optimize Data Processes : Evaluate and improve existing data workflows and processes to maximize efficiency, reduce latency, and support scalable data operations.

Position Requirements :

Bachelor's Degree in Data Science or related field, completed by start date

Preferred Qualifications :

Experience in Python, SQL, and PySpark

Federal Employment Requirements :

  • US Citizen aged 18 or older at time of hire
  • Males registered or exempt from Selective Service
  • Determined suitable for federal employment (process includes a background check and fingerprinting)
