Executive Director - Program Portfolio Management (Therapeutics & Oncology)
The Role :
Moderna's Portfolio & Program Management Dpt. seeks an Executive Director PPM with strategic focus on our Therapeutics & Oncology (T&O) portfolio and programs, incl.
INT and Rare Disease. This leader will oversee development programs from IND to licensure, ensuring the successful execution of our programs and strategic objectives in the Therapeutics & Oncology area.
Collaborating closely with Program Leaders, this role will integrate cross-functional teams to deliver transformative mRNA therapies, with the flexibility to support additional therapeutic areas as needed.
Key Responsibilities :
Oversees cross-functional planning and execution of T&O programs, incl. definition of operational strategy, management of timelines, risk assessment and mitigation, cost and quality to secure approval of new drugs and new indications across the product portfolio (life cycle management) in close collaboration with Program Leaders.
Collaborates closely with T&O Development leadership contributing to the T&O portfolio strategy.
Drives and oversees the T&O portfolio execution and proactively identifies and escalates systemic issues which require action.
Drives and contributes to decision-making processes for infectious disease programs at the Program, T&O Development Unit, Governance and Enterprise level.
Builds and maintains strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring T&O program alignment with functional and corporate goals.
Manages the T&O program budgets in collaboration with the R&D Finance team, optimizing resource allocation.
Ensures that PM deliverables are available and accurate to support regular enterprise processes, e.g. portfolio reporting, strategic portfolio reviews, long range financial planning, budget and resource planning.
Drive the strategic and operational integration of development initiatives, aligning with leadership, stakeholders, and enterprise priorities and customize them to the unique needs of T&O development.
Leads and / or acts as change agent for continuous improvement /
transformational initiatives within PPM, Development or at the enterprise level.
Demonstrates significant agility by being able to readily pivot to support new program teams, new therapeutic areas and / or manage diversity in program types with skill and ease.
Leads, mentors, and guides development of PM talent, which includes succession, development planning, performance management, and recognition of the T&O PM team.
Acts as a key member of the PPM leadership team and ensures integration and connectivity of all PPM efforts with evolving Enterprise strategies.
Qualifications :
Extensive experience in drug development, preferably in Oncology and / or Rare Disease development, with a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 15 years, or a Graduate degree with 10+ years in a scientific field, incl.
8-10 years in program and portfolio management.
Subject matter expertise in the end-to-end R&D process, particularly in late-stage drug development, submission, and lifecycle management.
Exceptional interpersonal, communication, presentation and organizational skills to effectively manage, advance development programs and influence decisions.
Proven success in leading cross-functional teams and managing complex programs preferably in the Oncology and / or Rare Disease domain(s).
Proficiency in program management tools and software.
Preferred Qualifications :
Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD) and project / program management training or certification preferably with an emphasis on Oncology and / or Rare Disease.
