The Opportunity
As the Security Shift Supervisor for Grand Casinos, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective functioning of the Security Department on assigned shifts, overseeing the safety of Guests and staff, and maintaining the security of the facility.
What You Get To Do
- Assist in the supervision of Security Officers on assigned shift.
- Maintain adequate staffing levels by interviewing, selecting, training, scheduling, evaluating, promoting and disciplining Associates, as needed.
- Patrol the property on assigned shift, identifying potential security and / or safety hazards, and reporting the same to the appropriate individual, to ensure the safety and protection of Guests, Associates and the entire facility.
- Act as a back-up to Security Officers on assigned shift and assumes their duties when necessary.
- Prepare and request reports on incidents involving Guests, Associates and / or the facility, as needed.
- Maintain working knowledge of Grand Casino's facilities, as well as special events on property, in order to advise Guests and fellow Associates of the same, whenever possible.
- Guard all transfers on monies and chips on the casino floor, as well as the physical transportation of hopper fills, chip fills and credits.
- Interact with Guests and Associates in a positive, professional manner.
- Ensure a maximum level of Guest Service and satisfaction throughout the property is achieved and maintained.
- Held accountable, to a high degree, for the accuracy and thoroughness of departmental records and reports.
- Regularly attends departmental meetings and participates in training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Understand Crisis Management Plan and infectious disease procedures.
- Perform other departmental duties assigned to contribute to the overall success and efficiency of the team.

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required; some college or related training highly preferred.Minimum of two (2) years in security management, law enforcement, or gaming security, with two (2) years' supervisory experience required.Two (2) years Gaming experience preferred; One (1) year investigation experience preferred.Must be able to secure a license from Gaming Regulatory Authority (GRA).Responsible for following all relevant Detailed Gaming Regulations (DGR's).Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process.Must Have Skills
Must possess excellent communication skills and be able to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group situations, and to moderate-sized gatherings of Associates and / or executives.Must be able to comprehend instructions furnished in oral, written or diagram form.Must be able to listen and willing to ask questions.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, percentages and decimals.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Strong analytical and mathematical skills; ability to handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously, mixing long-term projects with the urgency of immediate demands.Physical Requirements And Work Environment
Must be able to stand, walk, sit, and handle tools, objects, or controls; occasionally lift and / or move up to 100 pounds.Exposed to various environmental conditions including moderate to loud noise levels and second-hand smoke.
