About The Position

Experience : Minimum of 2 years in the Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology
License : Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
Certifications : Certified and unrestricted to practice and administer radiation
Must-Have :
RCIS certification required if not RTR certified or state licensed
Experience in radiology and Cath Lab
Description :
Provides direct procedural care for patients in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab.
Communicates continuously with the physician and Cath / IR Lab staff about patient condition.
Assists physician during invasive and non-invasive procedures through monitoring and / or scrubbing procedures.
Operates all equipment safely and correctly.
Performs imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols.
Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities of the Cardiac Cath / IR Lab.
Supports and maintains a culture of safety, service excellence, quality, and fiscal responsibility.
Acts as a resource for radiation safety within the department.
May work in other units as oriented or assigned.
Establishes and maintains effective communication and good working relationships with coworkers for the benefit of patients.
Approaches patients and families in a kind and respectful manner.
Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious / spiritual needs of patients and their families.
Handles emergency situations during low-, moderate-, and high-risk procedures effectively.
Ensures patients understand pre-, intra-, and post-operative processes and provides necessary education preoperatively.
Performs call for Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology, responding to notifications promptly.
Checks LMP prior to procedures for all women of childbearing age.
Ensures proper function and operation of radiological equipment and radiation safety for the team and patients.
Identifies situations that put patients at increased risk for cardiac arrest and takes steps to stabilize their hemodynamic status.
Maintains an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical errors.
Ensures use of universal protocols for all procedures and maintains aseptic technique where necessary.
Administers medications safely based on the eight rights of medication administration and individualizes treatment plans.
Responsible for hematoma management post-procedure for hospital staff.
Adheres to infection control policies, including proper PPE use.
Respects patient confidentiality and the right to privacy.
Ensures that documentation is accurate for procedural processes.
Actively participates in continuous performance improvement activities.
Reports significant events such as near misses, adverse events, and patient / family complaints timely.
Rounds proactively with team members and identifies opportunities for improvement.
Ensures environmental conditions for surgical and radiological equipment safety are met.
Documents procedural charges accurately.
Maintains records and handles special equipment, notifying management if maintenance is needed.
Uses timekeeping systems appropriately and takes ownership of time allocation.
Maintains competencies in procedures, protocols, supplies, equipment, and critical care knowledge.
Stays current with changes in technology, techniques, and equipment through continuing education and professional development.
Participates in patient-care-related task forces, committees, or councils.
