Summary :

Provides receptionist assistance for corporate office and meets and greets visitors to Bonney-Watson facilities and provides assistance to visitors by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for opening and closing the facility.
  • Answers incoming telephone calls, determines purpose of callers, and forwards calls to appropriate personnel or department.
  • Updates and distributes the daily schedule once in the morning and updates the schedule in the afternoon and distributes.
  • Takes and delivers messages or transfers calls to voice mail when appropriate personnel are unavailable.
  • Answers questions about organization and provides callers with address, directions, and other information.
  • Welcomes on-site visitors, determines nature of business, and announces visitors to appropriate personnel. Escorts visitors to the staterooms, chapel area or other areas of the facility as needed.

Maintains an awareness of the whereabouts of visitors.

  • Receives, sorts, and routes mail, and maintains and routes publications.
  • Creates and prints fax cover sheets, memos, correspondence, reports, and other documents when necessary.
  • Performs other clerical duties as needed, such as filing, photocopying, and collating.
  • Accepts / processes payments on accounts and payments received during daily arrangements from clients and issues receipts.
  • Communicates the requests of visitors to funeral directors, family service staff, or other appropriate staff members.
  • Ensures all conference rooms and reception area are stocked with supplies.
  • Facilitates effective coordination of the arrangement offices. Collects personal effects delivered by client families; completes the personal effects form and routes to the funeral director.
  • Serves as an assistant to the Manager with secretarial tasks, including but not limited to typing correspondence and distributing documents.
  • Reviews, balances, and interprets computer reports, and makes corrections.

Education / Experience

High school graduate or equivalent and two to three years of related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability

Ability to read and comprehend documents such as procedure manuals, and instructions. Ability to write simple correspondence.

Ability to read and write routine reports and compose short correspondence. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Math Ability

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

Knowledge of basic computer skills including Word and Excel.

Paid Sick and Safe Leave Policy : Full-Time Employees working a minimum of 30 hours are eligible for 80 hours of PSSL per year, which accrues at a rate of 3.

077 hours each pay period.

  • Holidays : 8 paid days, but open during certain holidays as stated below :
  • Washington Memorial Park & Mortuary : Open on all holidays except New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
  • Satellite Locations : Closed on all holidays except President’s Day and Veteran’s Day when they will maintain regularly scheduled business hours.
  • Employees who work holidays may take another day off with prior approval.

Other compensation : Employees have the opportunity to earn :

  • Monthly bonus under the Company’s Quarterly Incentive Plan, subject to Plan eligibility requirements.
