Tutor Instructional Part Time 2024-2025

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Tutor students in specific course material and integrate study and learning strategies to promote independent learning
• Meet with the instructor(s) of the course(s) you are tutoring and discuss your role as a tutor and obtain any information that will assist you to effectively tutor
• Tutor in areas of specific needs based on State Accountability testing data
• Demonstrate an ability to quickly establish rapport and communicate well with students
• Tutor students to increase and enhance mastery of concepts or applications of a specific course of study
• Tutor students to integrate effective study and learning strategies to maximize the student’s potential for academic progress
• Utilize various office equipment, including computers, hardware, and software used in the district

• Bachelor's Degree
• Valid Texas Teacher Certification
• Minimum of 1 year of successful experience working with students experiencing academic challenges
• Ability to target instruction to students based upon academic needs. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and parents.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

• Knowledge of effective instructional strategies in reading, writing and math
• Successful experience teaching core curriculum content and developing academic instructional strategies

Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties.

May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
