Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a per diem Research Assistant for the department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Under direction of the Principal Investigator, perform independent research within the lab. Studies include genetic modification of mammalian cells, in vitro reporter assays, and mutagenesis / binding studies for interaction with viral and host proteins.
Research will also include experiments of enteroviruses in tissue culture and gene knockout experiments.
Among the key duties of this position are the following :
- Acts as project lead to perform various research / technical operations relative to the ongoing research in the lab associated with the mechanism of selenocysteine incorporation.
- Analyze selenium utilization in genetically modified cell lines by CRISPR-Cas9.
- Performs in vitro experiments to study Sec incorporation.
- Performs a broad suite of molecular techniques to study RNA protein interactions.
- Will oversee undergraduate students.
- Keeps detailed records of procedures and experiments.
- Handle additional related responsibilities as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with RNA biology and selenobiology is highly preferred.
